Listening to Biden, the Democrats choice for the VP spot, last night, he noted that Senator Hillary Clinton would have been a better choice than himself.

I smiled at that and thought, hmmm...whassup here...is Biden about to bow out or be dropped?

But, I let it go, I have enough silly speculations floating around upstairs anyway...

But then, lo and behold, on two different cable news channels, I heard the same speculations voiced and thought, maybe I ain't so far off base anyway?

With the advent of Governor Palin, the Dems are definitely in disarray and had Hillary been on the ticket it would most likely have been Lieberman, the Democrat, instead of Palin. Politics makes strange bedfellows....

Probably won't happen...but...if the polls show a precipitous drop for the Dems, it is not outside the realm of possiblity, now is it?

Chuckles....we can hate Hillary all over again, the old biddy....

;)

That would rock. :D

that would be a basic admission of defeat. It would show that the party is in such disarray that they're incapable governing. Even a lot of Hillary supporters would throw up their hands, I think. If they were silly enough to that route, it could cost them Congress because they would look so silly. The best thing for the Dems now, short of pulling off a very close victory, is to hold onto both houses of Congress and force McCain to deal with them.

This is all due to a complete misunderstanding of the non-rabid American voter. We don't like Senators much. If McCain wins, it will be because of his military history, not his Senatorial one.

Hillary's run for the White House is over. The best she can hope for now is a long career as Senate Democratic leader, which I suspect she could handle quite well, Secretary of State (a political tar pit) or the Supreme Court. the last isn't too bad an idea and has a lot of prestige. However, it wouldn't be a 'first' and that's what she craves.

Hillary never left "the game." (Biden's statement is a bit bizarre, though)

And it's ludicrous to say her campaigning for the White House is over. In eight years (or four) she'll still be younger than the current Republican candidate is.

I'm not a pom-pom twirler for Hillary, but some of these "never" political armchair "pundit" statements are quite naive.

Obama sounds snake-bit during interviews. Biden seems to be staying out of the fight. And McCain is letting Palin kick sand on Obama. Someone characterized Obama as an expensive empty-suit trying to get in the mud fight but not knowing the rules.

Well, yes, I do agree that Obama is nonplussed by the Palin angle. But, then, that's part of why he wasn't really ready yet for this and should have realized that and have planned better--and taken more time doing it. He truly is one who stepped in before he was ready for it. The Demcrats once again doing everthing they can to lose a "sure" thing.

Palin is going to crumble as soon as she's really engaged. She's gotten a free ride to this point. McCain took her just to achieve the kind of false indignation they had about the lipstick comment. They want to be able to scream sexism whenever Palin is attacked for saying something that a man would, rightfully, be raked over the coals for. I think Hillary will get involved, but not as VP. I think she'll step in and say things that a Democrat man would catch hell for.

"...Palin is going to crumble as soon as she's really engaged. ..."

After the Gibson interview on, what, ABC, if you took note of it, do you still think Palin will crumble?

I think the more plausible prediction is that Obama will crumble and show his true left wing colors, even though in the forum aired last night, he scurried to the middle even endorsing ROTC on the Columbia campus and backing off completely from his earlier insistence of a 'draft' of high school and college students into, 'national service'.

Obama is a politician, heart and sould, community organizer and all, saying whatever seems to be most propitious at the moment and entirely capable of changing any position to suit the circumstance.

Palin on the other hand, is rock hard on her premises and will not deviate to satisfiy the polls or the press.

If you were just making a political ploy, then never mind, if you truly think Palin will crumble, I suggest you are in for one helluva surprise.

You mean the interview where she avoided actually giving an answer to any of Gibson's questions?

My favorite was the Pakistan question, He pressed her repeatedly for a yes or no, and she still adroitly avoided answering the question.

And... 'We cannot second guess Israeli policy...' three times after asking the question three different ways.

And then the whole Bush 'proactive / pre-emptive' thing, which she just didn't get :D

I think her mind was continually trying to process a way to claim she knew what the "Bush Doctrine" was.

I felt bad for her on this, though. I didn't remember he had so much as a doctrine myself either. Of course, I'm not running for VP--nor am I Republican--nor did I have a crash course on who to answer what most likely would be asked.

Not a political ploy. I think Palin is a nothing in the truest sense of the word. Unbelievably out of her league. Biden will eat her alive in a debate. Unless she can continue to get away with dodging every challenge put to her... she will crumble.

According to Carl Rove, there are four Bush Doctrines, each and every one defined by the press and no one else. Gibson was expecting doctrine number two, Palin answered with doctrine number four, the most recent.

Gibson's interview was combative and condescending with several attempts at, 'gotcha!' type questions, none of which bothered Palin.

And about Palin/Biden, we shall see what we shall see, I think the down to earth mother of five, mayor and governor will let the air out of the stuffed shirt Biden in short order and show her to be more capable and of quicker mind.

Ain't opposing opinions neat?

Ummm, no. Palin didn't reference any part of her answer as a response to the question specifically on a Bush Doctrine. She obviously had no idea that there either was or wasn't such a doctrine (repeat, she didn't say there wasn't one). I take it you haven't seen the video on that.

And it's Karl Rove. It's best to know the players on your own team if you want to be taken seriously.

I saw a replay of the question and answer during the interview and perhaps I should clarify, she answered the content of what would have been doctrine four, if there were such a thing as a Bush doctrine, which there is not.

So, by Gibson asking specifically about 'the Bush Doctrine', knowing there wasn't one commonly known or accepted, he was setting a trap and it failed as she answered in context of policies publicly outlined by the Bush administration.

If anything, it shows and showed that she was more astute than the person interrogating her as she knew the real answer and he did not.

Ain't politics wunnerful and the nuances, just fascinating, doncha think?

Ah, you must have seen the doctered Republican Party version then. It's all over the Internet and late news shows (even Jay Leno is a routine on it).

It's such a surprise, of course, that you would be making Oreos out of pea soup over it. :D

Gads, talk about political spin on late night talk shows, giggles, you folks, I swear, could watch the same sunrise as I do and find something sinister and demeaning in it.

Such a deal....

Amicus the eternal optimist...or is that optometrist?

The optometrist asked his patient to read any size type on the eye chart.

Line after line the beautiful young woman answered, "No."

Finally, quite frustrated, he unzipped his pants and took out his cock.

"Put that back!" exclaimed the girl.

"Just as I thought," explained the doctor, "you're cock-eyed!"

Heh! Got a laugh out of me on that one!

Sorry your Jayhawks lost tonight, keep ur chin & boobs high...

So, amicus, how did you like what she's said about what she'd do with athiests? Something about Gitmo, as I recall.

Ah, do believe I heard the lady refer to a persons right to any belief or no belief, in response to another pointed question concerning her religion.

Wrong again, but keep trying, shows you are awake.

The liberals deserve the ribbing. They're the ones who made race and gender The Problem.

Hoist by their own petard.

A Palin presidency will be a cruel and unusual punishment, but that's America.

Ah, so you really were looking at the doctored Republican Party version. Fox News again?

But to quote what you wrote to Og today:

"Awww...dear [amicus], I was poking you to see if I could get a rise out of you...

"guess what...?

"It worked...
