Okay so the wife is a bit nervous. We may get called in to the hospital due ti Ike. She's nervous about the little things like snacks. Tonight I cured the problem.

I dug through the freezer and pulled out several packs of thick cut bacon. I dug under the counter and pulled out the Griddle and a Griddle Press.

So I cook the bacon six strips at a time, pressing them flat with the press. When they are done I place them on a plate lined with paper towels to dry.

By the time I'm done I have two pounds of thick cut, dry and very flat bacon. I let it cool then place it in a container in the fridge.

Because of the way it had been cured, and because it has been cooked this will last for quite a while even without being in the fridge.

So now we have some snacks. Some of our favorite snacks by the way.

What are your favorite snacks?

Cat

Trader Joe carries pretzels filled with peanut butter. I hate salty things, and they have both the regular kind and the kind without any salt on the pretzel. I love them, and they're even not as bad for you as most snacks.

Crunchy peanut butter mixed with pancake syrup, on a ritz cracker.

I like them all the time, not too sweet, but you can add more syrup or less to get them how you like them.

My dog Scooter loves them also but you should have seen his face the first time he tried peanut butter, he thought I tried to poison him.

I'm eating stew with biscuits and gravy right now so not interested in snacking.

:rose:

Party mix, that stuff that has all the other snack foods mixed together.

Chips with onion dip.

Peanuts.

Kids felt the need for Dump Cake.

Standard recipe - yellow cake mix, pineapple, apple pie filling, top with dots of butter, add cinnamon and pecans, cook for an hour, serve with ice cream.

Yummmm.

You should be able to hear my arteries hardening from there. ;)

Laughing -

Yeah, we don't have it very often.

Pity, 'cause it's so simple.

But it's so very rich.

(Simple, but I forgot to add the butter earlier this evening. I stared stupidly at the pan after it was supposed to be done - the cake mix was still powdery - WTF? Apparently I'm not all there. I added butter, got a bit more time in the oven at a lower heat. It's not exactly cake, more like ice cream topping, but it's still most delicious.) ;)

Well lets see...pussy is way at the top of the list ;). After that, I like chips (esp Ruffles), popcorn with lots of butter, ice cream...those are the main ones but I have others.

Nacho cheese Doritos, or a Twix candy bar. I had both of them on my Atlantic City trip last weekend.

Doritos, chocolate, Quaker rice snacks the Apple Cinnamon kind, Lays potato chips and a lot more I can't think of
