Do you believe that we should have a secessionist as Vice President?

As she never said anything about secession I have to believe you must be smoking something.

Nuthin wrong with secession. I wanna secede, too.

But Palin is still a white trash, honky-tonk whore....so no vote from me.

She attended their events and talked their talk, but her ambition has spoken louder. Even you can't imagine she's still a secessionist once she's running for this office. She may have even held Independence principles, once. But she's going for the power, now.

This is a foolish issue to push, Le J. You sound like McCarthy going after fellow travelers.

After falsely stating on Tuesday's front page that Sarah Palin was once a member of the Alaska Independence Party, the Times "corrects" the record not on the Correction page but in a box at the bottom of page A18."

I guess they did not see the video at the start of this thread yet, did they? Sarah is literally introducing people to the AIP - hell that's as good as being a member.

Watch the video, then switch out "AIP" with "Black Panther Party" or "Communist Party." What would you say then?

Funny, how you guys don't apply the same argument to Obama and his supposed connections with the local axis of evil.

Hypocrites.

Why wouldn't "we guys" make the same argument? It's weak. Guilt-by-association doesn't work, not in sound bites. You have to build up to it, drag people into the idea of hating some group. Then you can broaden the view. You begin to point to traces and 'evidence' from all over, to scare people that the hated ones are everywhere! At that point, such a thing as the vid clip is damning.

But it needs the buildup. Same with Obama and whoever you want to tar him with this week. You need the buildup.

I'd like to point out that the right wing talk radio, the right wing churches, the right wing news anchors and pundits-- all those guys-- they can do the buildup. Someone with their head in that place never has to listen to anything that contradicts the myths. The Right can pull a McCarthy, the Left lacks the huge media echo-chamber.

And the first part of your post is exactly McCarthy. The fellow traveler line, pure and simple. Give it up. Hit Palin some other way. This is poor tactics.

Guilt by association does work - it alienated Obama from millions of white voters, re: Wright. They didn't need much build-up for that.

Nonsense. Have you ever heard Rush, or watched PTL? They hear the buildup twenty-four-seven. These people wave the flag and define what's American all the time. The Wright clip was damning precisely because it resonated with all that. They call the Left "America-haters' constantly. You aren't listening. And you didn't read my post very closely, either.

Don't you understand that this is a full-blown fascist movement?

What I understand is that the French like Obama, That's enough reason not to vote for him :D

Sarah Palin is the ultimate victory of style over substance. She's a symbol of what they want her to be. No one cares what she really believes in.

Gee sounds just like Obama

Of course Dems don't support freedom of speech either:

Democrats have warned Joe Lieberman that he could face repercussions for speaking at the Republican convention. The Independent senator caucuses with the Democrats but supports John McCain. He said in his speech that Barack Obama lacks the experience to be in the White House.

A spokesman for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says, "He clearly went too far."

The Washington Post reports Democrats are considering stripping Lieberman of his chairmanship of the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee as well as taking away all his other committee assignments. Reid's spokesman says sanctions would not be imposed until after the November election.

Meanwhile, Lieberman has donated more than $145,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee.

Ironic aint it :D

Corrections ALWAYS get buried. That isn't new. It's just being trumpeted because THIS time it helps someone politically.

Um, excuse me... but this is not a free speech issue.

If you were given a place of leadership by the NRA and then came out on national television and said that you supported a handgun ban, you would have every right to do so. And the NRA would have every right to be pissed.

That is what this is.

Some people have no sense of humor

Because it doesn't sound like a joke anymore. It sounds like spiteful propaganda. And people are way tried of it, especially against Dems... the tactic was used too effectively in 2000 and 2004 for Dems to have anything but a kneejerk reaction.

And John McCain didn't used to think it was funny, either. Not in 2000 when he was the brunt of these kind of jokes and not in 2004 when they were being directed at a fellow Nam vet.

Candidate McCain is another story though.

Besides, whenever I hear this stuff I always remind myself that without the support of Spain and France there wouldn't BE a USA.

That was then. This is now. What have those candy assed cheese eaters done for us lately? ;)
