Okay, gang, here we go. First game this week is Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. Eastern time, so let's try to get the picks in by Thursday 5 p.m. ET, k? ;)

I did a little lookin', and the NFL is going to wait to decide what to do about Tampa Bay @ NOLA. Apparently, their "decision" at this point is to hope that Gustav magically takes a turn west or east and doesn't bother NOLA so they can keep their precious schedule intact. This despite the fact that TB and NO play a home-and-home series each year (they're in the same division), so it would NOT be difficult to just reverse the schedule and play the late November game in NO. Other options (if Gustav does wander in to NO) are Baton Rouge (yeah, right - current predictions are that Gustav will blast through Baton Rouge shortly after leaving NO in yet another {non-political} shambles), San Antonio...

Sir Winston,

Sorry, i am not as much into the NFL as i am college football.
Can't help it, they got cuter asses at that age.

And lets hope for safety of everyone in Gustav's path, whichever way it may go.

I'm not as much into college football as I am the NFL, but I'm playing both pools... What's it gonna cost ya? :p

And *none* of their asses do much for me. At least not until they get some women playing.

I'll adopt your last suggestion with one proviso - that that safety doesn't include any of the politicians who mucked things up in 2005 (Katrina) until after all the "little people" are safe.

I have to be true to my home team - even if I don't live there anymore. A new city doesn't change the silver and blue running through my veins.

How 'bout them Cowboys! :D

Might cost me a spanking or two, just for mouthing off. :caning:

Yes, it kind of got to me how all the presidential candidates are using Gustav as a "Better themselves in the eyes of the country" type thing, by putting the "little people" first. This time.

Where were they all during Katrina's aftermath?

Sir Winston, that sounds like a bad migraine headache. Might check with your doctor about Imitrex. Its specifically for those type headaches.

And it does its job beautifully. ;)

It is migraine, but stress-triggered. In this particular case, triggered by the stress of having a severe sinus headache. Not terribly unusual for me this time of year. There's something in East Tennessee that blooms in the early fall that just drives my sinuses crazy, with or without loratidine, pseudoephedrine, etc. (or combinations thereof  ). About the only way to avoid the sinus headaches is to stay completely indoors for about 5 weeks or so. Not quite possible. They don't usually cause a migraine, though. I was just lucky the other day.

i can understand the nasty allergies. Mine are mainly dandelions and the springtime weeds.

The imitrex (which i take, when needed) works well for any type migraine; though.

Hope You are feeling better. :rose:

Brady out.. colts struggling... Bolts struggling too. Could this be the cowboy's year?

(or am I judging too early )

Week 1 results before the two MNF games:

1 - Naxalite0906. . 10
1 - WriterDom . . . 10
3 - ShyGuy68. . . . .8
3 - Sir_Winston54 . .8
5 - Cherokee_dove . .7
5 - Daddy2mylilgirl .7

Worth noting this week: Cherokee_dove was the only one of us "experts" (ha!) to pick Carolina and Chicago. Congrats for not giving in to the hype, dove!

As a side note, can I ask that for future weeks, we post our picks as winners only, and use the full name of the team, e.g., N.Y. Giants, Philadelphia, Indianapolis, rather than NYG, Philly, Indy? (Only the two N.Y. teams need the "team name" distinction. For all the others, the city name is what my spreadsheet looks for.) The way I have the pool set up, that makes it a LOT easier for me. Thanks!

Apologies. (i just used the way you posted it). I will remember in future though :) Anything to make your life easier as you do a wonderful job sorting this out every week and we all appreciate it. :)

No need for apologies. I didn't tell y'all in the beginning, so it's all my fault. It wasn't that hard for me to make the adjustments. Appreciate the kind words, though!
