Okay, so I don't have a set idea yet...running through several in my mind. I'm thinking something a mix of scifi and fantasy. Aliens are possible, though I'd suggest more of a focus on dragons, demons, and monsters. As some of you know, my views are less than Christian, so anyone going with the typical Christian view regarding such things as invariably evil will be asked once and only once to relent. Good and Evil are irrelevant...there are no species that are inherently good or evil. Such things are mental.

Now, that said, let's get some of the actual ideas out of the way.

Long after the fall of our civilization, the world has changed. The planet, blasted, broken, and pretty much barely hanging on, is just barely supporting survivors. Larger towns are market driven, with the only exceptions being a few small collections of high technology users, mages, or The Academy, a town centered around the last surviving hall of learning.

In this world, there are scattered groups of warriors who deal with the hunting of Bios, the product of genetic engineering gone wrong. Automated facilities mass producing faulty genetic material, creating true monsters, creatures that hunt and feed and prey upon travelers. Machines that once protected civilization having become degraded and corrupted to the point that they attack anything foolish enough to wander into their territory.

And as always, humans aren't all good. Even after everything that happened, there are still those who would take advantage of their fellow man. So the Hunters' Guild, an organized group of protectors, of warriors trained in the old ways, takes on any job they are paid for, be it protecting trade caravans, acting as personal bodyguards, or even something as mundane as retrieving a lost pet.

The requirements for joining the guild are simple. Be recommended. Be tested. Be apprenticed. Be tested again. If you pass the scrutiny of the Guild Examination board, you become a full fledged Hunter, Ranger, or Force, dependent on your choice of weapon. Before you can be tested by the Board, you must first pass your Master's tests. Different Masters use different methods for testing, as well as for training.

The main weapons of each class are simple. A hunter is master of the melee weapon. A ranger is master of projectile weapons. A force is master of the mind.

Name:
Age:
Gender:
Species (for those that are organic) or Model (for those who are mechanical):
Appearance (or picture):
Description: (this is where nonappearance traits would go...personality, biography, history)
Class/Profession (class if you're a Hunter's Guild member, profession if you're not):

some basic roles looking for, I suppose, would be a few Guildmembers. We could probably use a villain, though I may make that NPC. most Guild Quest contractors will be NPC, and thus storybased. I should think we should have an Academy professor or principal.other than that, there's not much for specifics. whatever works. Mechanical falls under several different categories. Androids, first of all, are self explanatory. Mechanoids, which are AI in purely mechanical or weaponized form (such as Mechanical soldiers, Autotanks, and so on). Then there are the largescale AI Computer systems, which I think I may open up as characters (something like Seed from Phantasy Star 4). Then there are the Artificial Life Forms. Some Biomonsters are intelligent, sentient, even. Those are usually the ones that keep to themselves, leaving well enough alone, though sometimes they are either helpful or violent, depending on their nature (the helpful ones may come in the form of pet-like creatures, for instance). The Hybrids, known as Numans, or NeoHumans, are genetically engineered humanoids created using cells from Biomonsters and humans. Their exact capabilities are unknown. Age is indefinable, as they were, at the time of the collapse, an entirely new thing. They may live months, or millenia. They have high mental faculties, but tend to be weaker physically. As such, they rely heavily on Techniques or Magic in battle.

As the collapse happened, magic surged back into the world, resulting in the resurrection of races of ancient legend, and reawakening of slumbering creatures of the Old World, like Dragons, The Brood, Weres, Zoans, and such.

Most humanoids are incapable of magic, and rely instead of Techniques, which are highly developed skills that convert mental energy into purely physical form. The magic users, on the other hand, rely on using their own mental strength to call upon the power drawn from everything around them. Both are finite resources, as using techniques depletes one's mental strength, and using magic exhausts one both physically and mentally.

As for aliens, they can take just about any form, should they appear. Some will be benevolent, some malevolent, but most will be indifferent.

a race is not inherantly evil, but demons tend to come from some kind of hell, raised by evil demons, making them evil by no fault of their own, just how the children of a racist hic will be racist hics

sounds fun by the way

again, that's a very Christian assumption. Contrary to Christian philosophy, most things merely exist. Good and Evil is relative, and hell is a state of existence

thats not christian (partly because the initial belief of what you said is shared by many faiths) but mainly because its true, your existance is shaped by what happens to you, you said that when the disaster thingy happened, magicy stuff came back, implying it came from somewhere, demons by most definitions are beings of hell, so its logical to assume thats where they came from.

actually, the concept of demons has been around since long before the concept of hell. in fact, if you've ever seen Princess Mononoke, they take an entirely different view of Demons...as does InuYasha. They aren't from a hell, they are a different species.

im using hell as a general term, as in any hell like place, (and might i ad that in inu yasha, good natured demons are the exception) and most mythologies have them coming from somehwere else at least.

on a completely unrelated side note, as i was writing this, i saw an ad for hellboy 2, it looks supercalafrekinawesome

Anyways, I suppose I should post a profile to give people a general idea.

Name: Stormfang
Age: mid twenties
Gender: Male
Species: Human
Appearance: not sure on this yet, I'll either come up with something or find a pic later
Description: Stormfang was raised amongst survivors of one of the ancient native tribes that had survived prior to the Collapse. He has been trained in the use of most weapons, and as a teenager, was apprenticed to a passing female Hunter, who took him on feeling he had great potential. She died recently, leaving him her home in the town that houses the Guild's central headquarters, and a legacy he strives to live up to.
Class: Hunter

yeah, I know. I can't wait to see it.

Bumping in an attempt to see if anyone who was previously interested is still interested, or if anyone new finds the idea appealing

Speaking of Demons I wonder if Dmour can be considered dead? Sorry to barge in with that in your recruitment thread but I might want to play a demones here.

This is a really interesting idea - hoping that I can join in. I'll play whatever is needed, but the initial thought I'd had was:

Name: Noi
Age: Indeterminate, but has been with the Ranger's Guild for a long time
Gender: Unknown, but usually prefers to speak in a deep male voice
Species/Model: Mechanoid
Allegiance: Respected long-time member of a Ranger's Guild
Appearance/Description: Standing a little less than 6 feet tall, but powerfully built, Noi is composed almost entirely out of blue-black metal, with only deep amber/orange eyes to offset his appearance, Noi also usually wears a dark red hooded cloak. He carries a weapon of his choice (a 3-pointed titanium throwing star which he can control remotely via the electronics in his body) and also one relating to his status (an unstrung bow which shoots laserbolts).
In addition to these, he also carries a variety of throwing knives, a seldom-used plasma gun (only against vehicles, etc) and -when all else fails- his left hand ends in a set of powerful titanium claws.

[Trying to find the picture, atm].

Background:
Rumoured to have been a good apprentice in his time, roaming the outlands and stalking biomonsters, Noi has taken a more advisory role in the Ranger's Guild for the last few years. However, he has now decided (or been forced?) to retake an active role in the defence of The Academy and to reacquaint himself with protecting traders and hunting the denizens of the wastes.
On one recent mission whilst neutralising a small 'family' of biomonsters, he managed to subdue and capture a young biomonster which had not yet had chance to become dangerous [think a sort of Pokemon-style beast, the size of a cat].
He carries this around with him as a sort of pet and is trying to train it not to attack people, but he makes sure that it is fed with stabilising drugs to keep it's mutations and powers under control.

I hope this is the style you're looking for...will add/change/remove anything if you need me to.

hmmm....sounds like a Bowcaster lol....Chewie's weapon of choice.

yes, we could use a demoness. not sure about Dmour.....I do know I've hit a stump (and tripped over it) with that one.

I look forward to the picture of your Mechanoid. *grins* as always, multiple characters are not only allowed, but encouraged

Yeah, the bow-thing was actually inspired by the old 'Dungeons and Dragons' cartoon...the one with "kids vs. Venger and Tiamat" theme where they get lost in space and time on a ghost train.
But yeah, it's just like a science-fiction bow-version of Chewie's laser-crossbow.

<red face> The mechanoid image (and name) is admittedly a shameless rip straight out of a published RP game called 'Waste World' by Bill King (who has written about 10-15 fantasy novels).
The original Noi from 'W.W.' is a stone-cold robot ninja assassin, but I figured he might work as a 'good guy', too.
I found that Waste World is worth checking out just to have a look at Bill's post-apocalyptic / futureworld concept. (I think it was a bit of a non-runner though, so the stuff is a bit hard to find).
I can't find Noi's images on the net at all, so had to do a couple of camera 'phone shots from my own rulebook (they're a bit blurry, but hopefully will give an impression).

Care if i be abit out of box?? i was thinking about a Bio who was created enough to survive like a rat( but not enough to kill humans) actually adapting and growing by attacking other bios then when he grows enough to attain a semi human form finds that he chooses to attack other bios more then humans out of instint and gained a reseblance to a consionce.. though pock marked..

that actually does sound rather interesting, yes

and lol....I haven't really done any tabletop RP....did a bit of either Mechwarrior or Warhammer40K (not sure which....completely dominated a dude who'd been playing it for years on my first try LMAO We're still trying to figure out how I hit him on his right side from his left)

LOL MAjor Glitch im guessing SOme dude hit him on his right right when you hit him and it red as you hit him on the right, thats my idea.. and sweet heree comes the stats..

no, it was a tabletop one....those little action figures...and it was just the two of us.

I think I'll reserve judgement till you've finished the profile, but so far, it looks good

you didn't give him/her/it a name yet...or a gender for that matter lol....I'm guessing you intend for that to be later, I suppose. Well, it'll work. We'll have to figure out the rest as we go along, I guess

yep you see hes a bios.. the gender is non exsistant due to his ability.. but as for the name.. i was thinking it would get it when you guys hunt it.. thats the intro for my character.. You go on a alert for a Bios reaking havoc and when you cornor it my Bios comes out and starts devoring it..in the form of a Insectoid alien he had devoured before..
