.... how would the [U.S.] media be covering the presidential election this year if Barack Obama were running as the Republican nominee instead of the Democratic nominee?

Take, for example, today’s coverage of the campaign by US Magazine:

Might they run the following story?

Malia Ann Obama (10), shown above with her politician father, Barack, has tried to hide from the spotlight – and with good reason!

Some Hollywood sources, who spoke to US Magazine on condition of anonymity, have suggested that Malia has had several “doctor” appointments this past year! Isn’t it a bit “early” for Malia to be having so many “doctor” visits? When asked if he would release his daughter’s medical records, the slippery senator immediately lost his cool and threatened our courageous reporter. Is that the kind of irrational hothead we want near the nuclear trigger? It’s up to the voters to decide.

Will Malia be a virgin on her wedding night?

Since the family has not released her medical records, it’s hard to say at this point, but we will keep you informed as this scandal plays out!

I don't think the ABC, NBC and CBS anchors would have followed him all over the world.

I have no idea why it's even news in the first place. She's pro-life and she has several children. How are these two ideas in any way contradictory?

You seriously think Barack Obama and Colin Powell are similar?

They're not. That's the point. If Obama were a Republican he would not be the same candidate or in any way the same person that he is. Thus, the question is meaningless.

Don't bother trying to figure it out.

The system is easy to follow: All Republican candidates need to be smeared -- in the interest of international peace and justice. It’s only fair, considering no amount of smear can ever balance the scales of loathsomeness.

Democrats have been losing elections with this handy tool for decades.

;)

Unfortunately, the only frame of reference we have is Clarence Thomas…

What if Barack were one of us?

She's 10... you are disgusting to make this kind of joke.

Says the side that gave us the SwiftVets, Karl Rove, Andy Martin and Jerome Corsi.

The RWs are vastly worse than the LWs in this regard, both in sheer volume of smears employed and the proportion of them that are lies.

And I think you know all that perfectly well, Karen.

Imagine, for a moment, what it must be like for the dude (fiancé?) of Bristol Palin? Holy shit! Must be great going over to visit the Palins these days!

The thread is about the media. Clearly, the Obama campaign has made it clear that the baby topic is off-limits. But the media see this as a way to somehow discredit McCain and Palin.

Everyone knows, after all, parents have complete control over the sexual habits of their teenage children. Well, at least Democratic parents certainly do!

The media is in the tank for Obama and is too stupid to realize that they are, in fact, hurting his campaign by making this into the big media story of the week. Obama doesn't want it; Biden doesn't want it; McCain doesn't want it; Palin doesn't want it. But since the New York Times has become a cheap tabloid, not much above US Weekly Magazine, there's no stopping what they think is a masterful stroke at discrediting the immoral and loathsome candidates running for President and Vice President for the Republican Party. I'm sure they are very pleased with themselves.

Since they like Obama so much, the least they could do is to listen to his admonitions about this. But no, they are much to smart for that.

So THAT is why the Piglickers are in "red alert" mode and keeping going on and on about it...

lol

I'm glad you like it.

:)

It's an easy joke, cheap & tasteless, and not at all intelligent or clever... even though you think it is.

It's precisely you. Lots of blathering which confuses the idiots into thinking you actually have a brain.

But you and I know the truth about that. Don't we?

I've ripped away the fig leaf, and what I've revealed isn't impressive.

Carry on, foolish one.

PS, Nice emote.

Very cute...

Lately, your threads remind me of Doll_Parts’.

ST. PAUL -- Sarah Palin's 17-year-old daughter is pregnant.

Those are the last words a 44-year-old woman with an infant wants to hear from a teenage daughter.
Not many of us can truly say we want to become a granny before we qualify for our AARP discount membership card.
But Palin, John McCain's surprise pick for VP, is a real trouper.

"Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news, that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We're proud of Bristol's decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents," Sarah and Todd Palin said in a statement released Monday. Malarkey.

When an unmarried 17-year-old girl comes up pregnant on the South Side of Chicago, Republicans don't make it sound like a beautiful thing.
They call it tragic and a moral failure, and they often blame the teen's parents.
There's no way to put a positive spin on a teen in this kind of trouble.

Indeed, teenage pregnancies rose by 3 percent between 2005 and 2006, the first increase since 1991, according to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Unfortunately, leaders like Palin are part of the problem.

When she was running for governor in 2006, Palin said she would fund abstinence-only programs and that "explicit sex-ed programs" would not get her support.
But studies have proven that abstinence-only programs alone don't work. Given her daughter's predicament, Palin might want to rethink her position.
Although it sounds nice that Bristol will be marrying the "young man" who fathered her child, the fact of the matter is marriage is hard work for adults, let alone a teenager.

And when 17-year-old girls decide to throw caution to the wind and risk their sexual health by having unprotected sex, then they haven't been paying attention to the messages adults have been sending.

But Palin, who is being touted as the down-to-earth candidate who can appeal to the working class, sounded like any other politician when she talked about her daughter's "news."
"Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family," Palin said.
More malarkey.

This is not good news, nor is it something the average woman wants to deal with, especially in the public arena. Palin should have acknowledged the disappointment and pain any mother feels when she learns her teenage daughter has stumbled onto this tough road. But Palin hid behind scripted words and blew the chance to have an honest dialogue about a problem that affects Republicans and Democrats alike.
Still, some good can come from all of this after all.

Conservatives like Palin have been hard on young, unwed, pregnant women in urban areas. Maybe now that she is in the same boat, they'll show a little more compassion.

Every rebid repiglicker's post on this board since Obama was nominated.

Blogs are not the media.

You act like people have no choice but to sit like zombies and watch or read "the media".

Blogs actually are the media, and are fast becoming more relevant than the normal mainstream crap.

;)

They're not. That's the point. If Obama were a Republican he would not be the same candidate or in any way the same person that he is. Thus, the question is meaningless.

Do you support Sen. Obama in his run for POTUS?

Do you support Sen. Obama in his run for POTUS?

What does that matter?

According to the mainstream media, this election is about the candidates' respective underage daughters. You know, taking the high road.

Why muddy the waters with issues?

Notice how much attention the two threads about the two partys' platforms got?
