I want to make the Fiance a CD to listen to whilst he gets ready for the wedding, with all wedding songs (and some of 'our' songs) on it. So far I've come up with:-
-ABBA - "I do"
-Billy Idol - "White Wedding"
-Jimmy Something - "If you want to be happy"

Has anyone got any suggestions for wedding-related songs - I don;t care how cheesy, I really don't. And, if there is any way you could mail me a copy then that would be even better, cos I usually just give the Fiance the required number of pennies and get him to d/l songs from iTunes, but obviously can't do that here, what with this being a surprise and all...

Would appreciate your help my lovelies

One of my favourite love songs ever is "Thank You" by Led-Zeppelin. If you haven't heard it, do yourself a favour and check it out. It's actually quite sentimental, and much unlike their normal stuff. Many people choose "Wonderful tonight" by Clapton, not knowing he wrote that as a sardonic love song after getting pissed-off with his wife. I'd avoid it. Good luck and best wishes to you both!

"Beginnings" by Chicago. (What's wonderful for a marriage-start is that it never really ends - that percussion section is still pounding this minute, 35 years later . . . :) )

and

"You made me so very happy"
by Blood Sweat and Tears.

"Beginnings"
When I'm with you, it doesn't matter where we are,
Or what we're doing. I'm with you, that's all that matters.
Time passes much too quickly when we're together laughing.
I wish I could sing it to you, oh no,
I wish I could sing it to you.
Mostly I'm silent.
Never think about words to say.
When I kiss you, I feel a thousand different feelings.
The color of chills all over my body.
And when I feel them, I quickly try to decide which one
I should try to put into words, oh no,
Try to put into words.
Mostly I'm silent.
Only the beginning of what I want to feel forever.
Only the beginning. Only just the start.
I've got to get you into my life.
Got to get you next to me.
Only the beginning. Only just the start.

"You made me so very happy"
I've lost at love before
got mad and closed the door
but you said try, just once more

I chose you for the one
now I'm havin' so much fun
you treated me so kind
I'm about to lose my mind

You made me so very happy
I'm so glad you
came into my life

The others were untrue
but when it came to lovin' you
I'd spend my whole life with you
'cause you came and you took control
you touched my very soul
you always showed me that
lovin' you is where it's at
You made me so very happy
I'm so glad you
came into my life

I love you so much it seems
You're even in my dreams
I can hear you
yeah I can hear you calling me
I'm so in love with you
all I ever want to do is
thank you baby
thank you baby

You made me so very happy
you made me so very happy baby
I'm so glad you came
into my life

Every day of my life
I wanna thank you
You made me so very happy
Oh, I wanna spend my life with you
thank you baby
thank you baby

LOL - I can so see your husband whipped even before you get married, V. lol

On the one hand, my gut instinct says let him have his fun and let him listen to the stripper music the guys are going to "force" him to hear at the bachelor party and let him have his music right up until you take control. On the other hand I think it sweet that you want to take care of all his needs. So here's some cheese:

I honestly love you - Olivia Newton John

Slow dance time:

And I Love Her, Beatles.
Little Surfer Girl, Beach Boys (you said no matter how corny - it's romantic and makes people smile :) )

More Beach Boys:

Wouldn't It Be Nice (anything more appropriate for a wedding? :D)

God Only Knows (anything more romantic? :)

My Fair Lady, "Get Me to the Church On Time"

Jamie, Harry, Friends:

There's just a few more hours.
That's all the time you've got. A few more hours
Before they tie the knot.

Doolittle:

There are drinks and girls all over London,
and I've gotta track 'em down in just a few more hours!
I'm getting married in the morning! Ding dong!
The bells are gonna chime. Pull out the stopper!
Let's have a whopper! But get me to the church on time!
I gotta be there in the mornin'
Spruced up and lookin' in me prime.
Girls, come and kiss me;
Show how you'll miss me.
But get me to the church on time!
If I am dancin' Roll up the floor.
If I am whistlin' Whewt me out the door!
For I'm gettin' married in the mornin'
Ding dong! the bells are gonna chime.
Kick up a rumpus But don't lose the compass;
And get me to the church, Get me to the church,
For Gawd's sake, get me to the church on time!

Doolittle and Everyone:

I'm getting married in the morning
Ding dong! the bells are gonna chime.

Doolittle:

Drug me or jail me, Stamp me and mail me.

All:

But get me to the church on time!
I gotta be there in the morning
Spruced up and lookin' in me prime.

Doolittle:

Some bloke who's able
Lift up the table,

All:

And get em to the church on time!

Doolittle:

If I am flying
Then shoot me down.
If I am wooin',
Get her out of town!

All:

For I'm getting married in the morning!
Ding dong! the bells are gonna chime.

Doolittle:

Feather and tar me;
Call out the Army; But get me to the church.
All Get me to the church...

Doolittle:

For Gawd's sake, get me to the church on time!

Harry and Everyone:

Starlight is reelin' home to bed now.
Mornin' is smearin' up the sky. London is wakin'.
Daylight is breakin'. Good luck, old chum,
Good health, goodbye.

Doolittle:

I'm gettin' married in the mornin'
Ding dong! the bells are gonna chime...
Hail and salute me Then haul off and boot me...
And get me to the church, Get me to the church...
For Gawd's sake, get me to the church on time!

Someone to watch over me, George and Ira Gerschwin
(kinda sad, but heart-achingly romantic)

There's a saying old
Says that love is blind -
Still we're often told,
"Seek and ye shalI find."
So I'm going to seek
A certain lad I've had in mind.
Looking everywhere,
Haven't found him yet;
He's the big affair
I cannot forget.
Only man I ever
Think of with regret.
I'd like to add his initials to my monogram.
Tell me, where is the shepherd for this lost
lamb.
There's a somebody I'm longing to see
I hope that he
Turns out to be
Someone who'll watch over me.
I'm a little lamb who's lost in the wood.
I know I could
Always be good
To one who'll watch over me.
Although he may not be the man some
Girls think of as handsome
To my heart he carries the key.
Won't you telI him please to put on some
speed -
Follow my lead -
Oh! How I need
Someone to watch over me.
Someone to watch over me.

There is a song, that's not quite a wedding song, but the first section of music in it, always makes me think of wedding music.

And it's beautiful, up until the guy starts singing, then it's kind of ruined.

I don't remember the artist, but the song is "always something there to remind me" (I think, I can't be sure)

I wanna hack out that music clip and play it at my wedding lol

Marvin Gaye and Tammi Tarrell - You're All I Need To Get By

You're all I need to get by.
Like the sweet morning dew, I took one look at you,
And it was plain to see,
you were my destiny. With my arms open wide,
I threw away my pride
I'll sacrifice for you
Dedicate my life for you
I will go where you lead
Always there in time of need
And when I lose my will
You'll be there to push me up the hill
There's no, no looking back for us
We got love sure 'nough, that's enough
You're all, You're All I need to get by.
I all, you're all I want to strive for and do a little more
All, all the joys under the sun wrapped up into one
You're all, You're all I need to get by.

You're all I need to get by.
Like an eagle protects his nest, for you I'll do my best,
Stand by you like a tree, dare anybody to try and move me
Darling in you I found
Strength where I was torn down
Don't know what's in store but together we can open any door
Just to do what's good for you and inspire you a little higher
I know you can make a man out of a soul that didn't have a goal
Cause we, we got the right foundation and with love and determination
You're all, You're All I need to get by.
I all, you're all I want to strive for and do a little more
All, all the joys under the sun wrapped up into one
You're all, You're all I need to get by.

I've always thought that "I Swear" by John Michael Montgomery would be a good song for a wedding.

Also, "From This Moment" by Shania Twain and Bryan White. Not the one where she re-did the song and it's only her singing...the original version with both of them. It's a beautiful song and the first time I heard it, I thought it'd be a cool song to play at someone's wedding.

Its cute but unfortunately I don't have an Mp3 of it its Forever by the Beach Boys.

Or Grow old with you by Adam Sandler is one I like

I was going to suggest that! The Adam Sandler one, it's so *sigh* sweet.

And More than Words by Extreme because I think it fits nicely in the wedding theme.

I may have a copy of both (or my hubs will have one) PM me if you want.

I sing pretty ok, but if I ever get married, I'm gonna take guitar lessons too, so I can perform these to, well, whoever it may be, at the reception.
