I don't use sunscreen. I might put a smidge on my cheek bones and ears, but that's basically it. My skin is unimpressed by sunlight. Happily, my kids are the same. They're all little sun deities. My youngest daughter looks positively surfer girl, as her skin is a beautiful golden brown and her light brown hair has faded to a perfect dark blonde. And this is with sunscreen. Tanning is just not an issue with their heritage.

It's an issue with my heritage. My bottom looks like the sun spanked it.

Whatcha read in the book Bijou?

We lucked out. viv does not tan. She sometimes burns viciously because she forgot to put on sunscreen, and her skin darkens from the damage then, but she doesn't really tan usually. That said, for a fair-skinned, blue-eyed gal, she doesn't really burn easily. MIS, on the other hand, has snow white skin, and burns VERY easily.

Or his total oblivion.

Well, long as we're both under the table...

Lemme show you something I just read about in a book.

bj

I'll show you oblivion, wench!

Look lively, you scabrous spawn of a misbegotten skua, else you'll lick the bilge 'til it shines!

I'm fine in normal sun. Just not in normal sun right now. Equatar sun is a whole other ball game.

For me, I am very dark right now but compared to most people I look pale.

It's this old thing instructing yogis about how to deal with more than one dakini at a time. It's in Sanskrit, so I'll have to translate for you.

Into our Native Tongue, as it were.

There's some stuff about how the dakinis have to be able to amuse one another. Homburg can tell you a bit about that too, I suspect. *eyebrows*

I'll show ya.

Y'all just talk amongst yourselves. Sara and I will be under the piano. There's more headroom there.

I avoid the sun. I'm melatonin-challenged. I burn. My daughter is half-black and she still burns sometimes. She's still miffed that we went to Disney World a few years ago because she got slightly darker. She's into Goth, so dark isn't the appropriate undead look.

I hope that's a trick question.

And that BJ knows I only know how to play under the piano.

Play Time

She played
under the piano
clarinet
sometimes oboe
sitting on pedals
unused by legs too short
to reach
while standing on the keys

She played
once beneath the piano
baby grand
once she could not remain
upright
playing accompaniment
while the melody
remained unsung

She played
under the piano
games of one
music(oneup)manship
chords unstruck
read between the lines
upon oboe
or clarinet

Mayhap a pale olive would cover that brown, making her look dead by undead, as 'twere.

*looks up bilge*

It sounds all nautical and stuff and I'm thinking it's not good but I thought I should check.

A confession

Bijou has asked that I come clean on a matter of some pith:

While I might look large and imposing, in actuality I'm only two and one half feet tall.

Um, Snood, BJ probably does not think your height is the important, or at least most relevant, dimension.

Just sayin'.
