Everyone recall the 80's when women going to work wore skirts, jacket and those AWEFUL blouses with the bows--a weird, feminine version of a tie which didn't work because it made them look either like they were badly giftwrapped or like little girls?

They're baaaaaack!

Please tell me they're not bringing back the bow! Please! Hint to fashion folk...it doesn't look good! Not on any woman with breasts!

(If the big shoulders make a comeback, I will go on a world tour and start murdering fashion designers!)

Bleah.

I have high school yearbook pictures with people in bows. I can't recall wearing them myself - no, can't recall. Nope. Nuh uh.

I didn't mind padded shoulders, though. More 90's look, I guess. Made my waist look teeeny. I had this blue and white houndstooth jacket I loved, wore with a white short skirt and spectator pumps.

I wish those would come back in style. I loved those shoes.

At least crocs are going out. I never owned a pair, though daughter gave me one of hers (I use them to garden). What better way to make your feet look hideously huge?

Crocs are the worst on grownups. Seriously. They're kinda cute on kids, and I realize a lot of people who stand on their feet all day like to wear them, such as medical people and hairdressers, but everyone else needs to steer clear. They'd be great for gardening though. I got a pair of Crocs flip flops last summer and wore them a lot. This summer, however, I hate them. They're so ugly and big. Bleh.

I could do without the bowtie blouses too, but remember the ones that buttoned up the side? Well, not really the side. The buttons were more over to one side, and usually there was some sort of stand-up collar. I loved those. Yeah, one of those with a huge stretchy belt around the waist and black leggings and boots. :D Oooh, but then I suppose I'd have to have big hair, as well?

I am so glad I've never needed to dress to the current fashion for my job.
I did have a period of "classic conservative" when I was working in court, right around the time bows were the rage and I managed to avoid the fuckers.
Then I graduated to the night shift back room where comfort ruled - jeans and any clean top, and in winter I even got away with wearing Ugg boots :)

Well it could be worse, we could find ourselves having to be wearing one of those muslim women outfits. I so forget the name sorry but I'm sure you know what I mean.

Besides, some of those bows actually looked good, well Ok so I remember two that were not bad.

Consider this (to do a spoof on Bill Nye the Science Guy). This year's Big Fashion Thing was the empire waist with spaghetti straps. It made every woman who wore it look like a pregnant teenager. Can a bow be any worse?

Is the bow any worse? Let me think on it....

Pregnant teen or Edwardian granny...at least fashion designers have gotten us beyond the dichotomy of madonna or whore. I must admit, this choice is far more interesting....

Hmmmm . . . Don't care much for the stripes but with a pair of tight toreador pants, the one on the right could be HAWT!

Fall's fashion must-have - mini skirts and very long socks - with garters.

You heard it here, folks.

-sighs happily- Thank god for being a guy where jeans and a t-shirt are always in style

Though, someday, someone will have to explain to me the droopy pants below the ass style...

I thought you had to show an AARP card to buy bow blouses. And drive a Buick.
