T Paw is a typical youngish gun Neocon gov. with a strong STRONG "conservative" fiscal appeal. Basically, he's decimated every program that made MN stand out in quality of our public education, quality of life, quality of social safety net - everything the state has in reputation as a progressive, pleasant place, and yanked the funding on it so that we're pretty much Nebraska with fond memories of being more cosmopolitan than that.
If I sound grumpy and like the guy's done everything but drain the lakes, you should talk to some of the clients I had that had to work with the SOB.

Mike Hatch was a pretty polarizing guy, too, he should have lost much worse. If there was an election tomorrow there is no way TPaw would hold onto his seat unless the opposition were Miley Cyrus or Beelzebub or a slice of Kraft Single.

I heard the Governator being floated - dude, I think the campaign needs a terminator on its side. There is no superficial glamor T&A fluff to the McCain side, NO bread or circus. Strategically I think it would be great.
They still have this deranged notion that ONLY Abortion and ONLY Gay marriage (as I see some of the moderate left FINALLY smarting up about guns) can help them. I think that's a shrinking market segment and they're going to have to begin talking to the wallet and the brain paths that connect to it. There's a significant advertising component to elections, and frankly, other than "be scared of Obama" there's no product.

Back to topic, this weeks City Pages (citypages.com) has a pretty good paint by numbers rundown on TPaw's performance. Basically it's a veto fetish without regard to content, polling, even READING the legislature half the time.
If you think that 7.15 is too high a min wage in a state where liveable is defined as 12.50, think that partner benefits for state/city workers should be MADE ILLEGAL, and like medical credit checks to see if you can have a procedure based on whether you're projected to be able to pay for it, this should be up your alley. Because we need less access to health care than we have. A few more or less dead bodies are fine as long as no one pays for it, just close your eyes and pray when you take an overpass.

Actually, there is a huge difference in that running a government is like running a conglomerate where all the different companies under the "control" of the top administration may not be- and cannot be forced to be - interested in cooperating with the top administration. And, for the most part, these other "companies" (i.e., the legislative branches as well as many of the large agencies under the executive) are essentially self-supporting and don't really need the top administration. The many tails are fully capable of wagging the dog and many in the country (call them the shareholders) like it that way.
