More on the dangers of soy.

yep I have read alot of articles saying soy is not good for males. It is in amost everything though.

It is the guys who sperm counts soar on soy who will populate our next generation.

That's what I'm sayin' . . .

LOL.

I have AT LEAST one portion of soy a day and have since birth. I still think this is all BS but what do I know?

I don't think they really have enough evidence to say if it has a causal effect or not. I am leery of statistics now. You can prove almost anything statistically.

I dunno. 9 out of 10 people say I'm nearly perfect. :p

Whaddaya mean 'nearly?'

Dude, the last perfect person go hung on a cross.

I'm nearly perfect. :D

My main failing is that I'm not very humble. :(

Ohhhhh lord it's hard to be humble
When you're perfect in every way
I can't wait to look in the mirror
I get better looking each day

:p

Who cares? Only a small portion of the population - males who are actively trying to get a female pregnant - needs their sperm anyway. So a guy has low sperm count, so what? I'd bet the health benefits of soy far outweigh any possible negatives that come with a low sperm count.

But, etoile! You can't be a manly man with a low sperm count.

I know what you're saying here, but in defense of the statisticians of the world, no you can't. What can happen is that a person with an axe to grind can manipulate reports about the statistical results of various research efforts in order to leave a particular impression in readers' minds. Statistics don't lie - but sometimes people who want to make a point will either lie or take advantage of most people's gross innumeracy with misinterpretations in order to do so.

The Cliffs Notes: 1 portion of soy every other day drops sperm count 41%

~starts feeding soy to every male I know~

Seriously, I doubt they can really prove a causal effect and like Etoile said...who cares. Considering the number of unplanned, unwanted, pregnancies in this world I would think men having a few less sperm would be a good thing in the long run.

Next time you want to check out how manly your man is, go ahead and count his sperm yourself. See how it lights up your love life. :D

My tubes are tied. he could have the highest sperm count in the galaxy and it won't make a difference. I was being sarcastic. (I know, hard to believe that I would be sarcastic, but there ya go. :p)

You're right in a way but there are also studies on plant phytoestrogens that link them to cancer, premature aging, sterility, etc.... Corn and soy are linked to thyroid problems and obesity, corn is linked to sterility, vegetable oils are linked to breast cancer. Eating animal products produced by farms who feed their animals these same veggie products apparently only passes the problems on to the consumer.

Sooooo, 100% all natural organically grown products seem to be the way to go as long as you leave out the soy and corn and vegetable oils. Olive, grapeseed and canola oils seem to be fine though.

But..... it's the ones that you don't want to breed who are doing the majority of the breeding out there. It's pretty much a historical fact that as education, quality of life and level of civilization goes up birth rates go down. So instead of helping to elevate humanity to greater heights of achievement, health, prosperity we have these hordes of barely literate thugs dragging the rest of us down.

I know you will all agree with me once you consider that study that said only the rich will be able to afford chocolate in 29 years from now.

:p

What about the men who get a vasectomy? You sayin' they aren't manly?

Incidentally, on the same page as the story about the low sperm count, there was an article that said soy helps prevent prostate cancer. Given a choice between the two, I'd opt for a low sperm count.

You have to be leery of all these studies you read Bet. The simple fact is there are studies on almost everything and all of them pretty much say that anything you is going to be bad for you in some way. If you can't find a study that will tell you something is going to kill you...well it's likely that no one has thought to study it yet.

It's not the soy it's the GMO crap.

I don't think Japan has a problem with populating its cities.

They're eating the non-shitty version.

People are eating CRAP?

Well, that explains the cancer and low sperm count.

Actually, Japan is facing an aging population crunch where the average age of a person there is nearing 50 or something like that.

I'm nearly 50 too!

The soy is causing that?

Here I thought it was just natural aging!
