...all fuckin' day. But this kind of sunset kinda makes up for the crappy weather. :)

Just thought this forum needed some uncontroversial feelgood right about now.

Cheerio.

Nice, Liar. You must be a long way north

Up where I live, the sun sets for about one hour, then it gets back up again. Those who live up where the real midnight sun is laugh at us down here, teasing us for living so way down south. *le sigh*

Sis moved to Kiruna , far above the polar circle, for a short term job. Says the midnight sun and dark winters are driving her absolutely bonkers.

It's pissing down rain complete with thunder and lightning right now, for about the 75th day in a row. Least I got my grass mowed.
Thanks for the pic, L.

Yeah, we get a midnight glow on the northern horizon - but we're on the same parallel as Manchester and Hamburg. Move any further north from here and you get the forbiddenly cold climes.

9 months when it's only light about 3 hours/day, and then 3 months of non-stop light.
Takes a lot of medication to survive that.

Nice pic.

I'm swiping it for my AV collection. :D

Thanks BTW.

That is pretty. I like cloudscapes.

It rained all evenng here. Not merely rain, but umbrella-everting wind with it.

There was a Lovin' Spoonful album cut with a line in it about the rain on the roof. When I hear the rain on the roof, I can hear that song, and I can see the place where I first heard it; Dana's living room. Her house was built out of redwood, with high glass windows all along the north wall. On that particular afternoon, she was wearing her dirty-tan suede jacket and patched blue jeans that turned her blue eyes into neon. I can still smell her hair, cascading over her shoulders like a psychedelic poster for a concert at the Filmore.

I grew up in a house with no insulation and no attic. The rain on the roof was loud, like an insistent drumming encasing the world in a gray cocoon. The house I live in now has next-to-no insulation in the ceiling over the bedroom. Last night, when the monsoons passed over, the sound of the rain took me to places in my mind I hadn't been in decades. That can be a very spooky feeling.

I hope it rains again tonight.

We've had more rain. Earlier today we went out to run a few errands: mail a letter at the post office, I had a tanning session, we wanted a bottle of wine and to buy numbers.

When I came out of the tanning place it was coming down like gangbusters, and it continued to rain. We got very, very wet doing everything else--going from the car to the liquor store, from the liquor store to the car, to the convenience store, from the car to home. We saw lots of people who'd pulled off by the side of the road to wait for the rain to let up. Wusses.

We just had a thunderboomer here that was t-totally spectactular.

I mean house-shaking thunder, hissing bolts of lightning, gusty winds and torrents of rain.

I watched the whole thing from my lanai and enjoyed every minute.

The lights flickered a bunch of times but never went out.

Mom Nature really do put on a show. :D

I wish we had a lanai.

I had one added to my house while it was being built. We have weather resistant rugs, furniture and lamps out there. It's like a second family room.

Nice! It's been monsoon-ish here for the past few days. Makes for spectacular sunsets and lightning shows. Tonight is no exception.

I miss the lanai in Maui...
