Yes. I'm thinking you've most likely been stationed in either Accra or Kumasi (if not, I'm of no use). I say so, because those are the two locations, were most expatriates end up.

Accra is lovely. It's very well developed (for West African standards) as it's probably the country's tourist hot spot. If you get a chance stay at the Labadi Beach Hotel (the La Palm Royal is more modern, but not as quaint). You can literally walk out of your room and be on the beach. And a gorgeous beach at that. Kumasi is more economically oriented, lots of businesses and all that. Their main university is also located in that city.

General acknowledged through WA, is that Ghanaian women don't always have pretty faces, but their bodies are.....spectacular!!
Anyhoo, I may be able to answer your basic questions (most of West Africa share some basic cultural values), so let me know if you have any.

Cool! Thanks. Yes, I'll be stationed in Accra. I suspect I'll be sent to the field a lot all over Africa though.

Do they any mexican restaurants there?
What currency do they use?
How expensive is the food?

I figured. Thank your lucky stars, the traffic lights in Accra work! :)

Mexican Restaurants ~ I haven't a clue. Last I went, I stuck with local cuisine. I'll find out in a few though. I've got a number of Ghanaian friends I can ask.
Currency ~ They use the Cedi. Finally sorted out their re-denomination, so you don't have to carry an entire stack of bills around.
Food ~ Cheap. The exchange rate works in your favour (despite the falling strength). Sure, there may be some exorbitant restaurants but that's just them being silly.

what about the kidlet?

what about the kidlet?

I come home every 4 months for 2 weeks. They will be fine with their mommy and grandmommy.

I have web cam now and will see them often via that.

While in Accra I will be 4 hr ahead of them.

Half of my family is a whole mix of different West African countries. Where are you from?
(I was hoping no Ghanian women would see this. Haha. It's of course heavily disputed by them)

Nothing so exotic, I'm afraid. Various northern European types, but 16th generation American though one line at least. Now on the East Coast, not far from you. *hint*

Well if they look anything like you Huskie isn't gong to get anything done.:)
Hello You....for the most part they tend to be all curves. Even the ones with smaller frames have curves that would make heads spin. :)
I was going to remark on your previous post from the CIA, but decided against it. For the most part in all of West Africa, those scary diseases aren't as common in the urban areas. So unless he goes drinking from a well, eats at dodgy local "canteens" and doesn't take his shots, he should be just fine.

Oh I see. I read "Coming from someone who would know" as you implying you were familiar with the area. Hint duly noted. I'd say a mix of European and American ancestry is exotic enough. :)
