And the slow parade of fears without crying
Now I want to understand
I have done all that I could
To see the evil and the good without hiding
You must help me if you can
Doctor, my eyes
Tell me what is wrong
Was I unwise to leave them open for so long
'Cause I have wandered through this world
And as each moment has unfurled
I've been waiting to awaken from these dreams
People go just where there will
I never noticed them until I got this feeling
That it's later than it seems

Doctor, my eyes
Tell me what you see
I hear their cries
Just say if it's too late for me
Doctor, my eyes
Cannot see the sky
Is this the prize for having learned how not to cry

Doctor My Eyes ~ Jackson Browne

The Pretender

I'm going to find myself a girl
Who can show me what laughter means
And we'll fill in the missing colors
In each others paint-by-number dreams

I keep my eyes open and try to see
This life in terms of possibility
With so much changing, and changing for the worse
You got to keep your head up, Baby
From the cradle to the hearse

And it was easy then to say where love could go
It's so easy when love is all you know

About my imagination

Oh won’t you stay just a little bit longer
Please, please, please say you will
Say you will

Oh won’t you stay just a little bit longer
Oh please, please stay just a little bit more

To open my eyes and wake up alive in the world
To open my eyes and fully arrive in the world
With it's beauty and it's cruelty
With it's heartbreak and it's joy
With it constantly giving birth to life and to forces that destroy
And the infinite power of change
Alive in the world

When he plays w/ David Lindley it is just magical. I have seen him 4 times, twice w/ and twice w/o. There were no comparison. I think the best I saw was the World in Motion tour when he had both Lindley and Jorge Calderon (whose band opened for him)

In the shape of a heart -- Acoustic

There was a hole left in the wall
From some ancient fight
About the size of a fist
Or something thrown that had missed
And there were other holes as well
In the house where our nights fell
Far too many to repair
In the time that we were there

No JB thread is complete without a mention of Red Neck Friend.
OK, it's complete.
