Right or wrong he was more honest in sticking to his beliefs than most any other politician you can name for the last third of the 20th Century.

I live in NC and do not agree with most of his stances, but you have to admire the backbone to stand up to all the attacks. I never had the chance to vote when he was up for election. Moved here the year after his last election in 96.

I am not an ilitist, and I am actually rather conservative. Even so, I always detested his views because he was so opposed to individual freedom and to equality. I don't know about "evil" but at least an acronym of that.
