So the Mustard Belt is staying in the US for another year. Joey Chestnut held on to the belt with an exciting finish against Kobayashi. After 10 minutes of chowing down they both finished 59 hotdogs. IN the exciting 5 hot dog eat off, Chestnut won by mere seconds.

And I watched it all in HD! Thanks to ESPN. HD hot dog eating... what's the world coming to.

Somehow, I was thinking geography; Like the Mustard Belt is above the Temperate Zone, or sociology, like the Mustard belt is adjacent to the Bible belt... And I bet it is, come to think of it.

Actually Coney Island, NY. Nathan's Famous Hot Dog Eating contest.

Woohoo!

We'll be having "Natan's" hot dogs to celebrate, today.

I lived in NYC for 4 years. I don't miss a lot of it, but I so miss Coney Island in the summertime.

lol, I think the best part of the whole thing was the revelation that there is now a Major League Eating video game for the Wii. I mean, WTF? :p

When the Army decided I needed to be in Frankfurt AM, I happened to be strolling down the strasse when I encountered a gasthaus that advertised "originalische frankfurterwurst". I got all excited. I don't care much for hot dogs, either, and wanted to find out what they were supposed to taste like. I popped and ordered. To my dissapointment the American version is absolutely authentic. :( I went back to brats, after that.

lol

I actually saw it on HD ESPN too! It was a hoot! 59 dogs then a 5 hot dog dog-off. :D

I loved Chestnut's post-competition comment that Kobayashi wanted it more, but he needed it more. And it was very funny how they were comparing the eaters to other sports icons like Tiger Woods and Muhammad Ali.

All in all, good theater.

Every time they said the name - Kobayashi - I kept thinking about Star Trek and the Kobayashi Maru.

"Incredible athletes."

Kobayahi and Chestnut are pretty buff guys, for people who eat professionally.

I was amazed by the stat for one of the asian chicks who ate 10 lbs of something or other, which was 10% of her body weight! That's just nuts. Maybe I could have done that when I was a little kid (actually I probably did this one time), but now? No way. Maybe 1% 2%

Kirk cheated. Don't tell. ;)

Reminds me of the joke where two fat slobs were in a boat drinking beer, eating chips and sandwiches and bass fishing. One of them says, "You know, if bass fishing is a sport, then we must be athletes."
