Cat Drool.

My dog drooled like that when she was almost killed by a poison toad.

Scary.

But to give Agnes the true credit she deserves, she is a good hunter. She got a baby mole the other day and played with it for hours. I wish it had been the mother mole, but tomorrow is another day of hunting for the cats. We also have one of Gertrude's two sons that we kept. Romulus remained and Remus disappeared, just like the legend... eerie music...

I've seen that cat position before, moments before they leap halfway up a tree in a single bound.

Found a dead mouse about an hour ago.

Almost stepped on the silly thing, it was left in the middle of the living room floor.

Jonesey would have eaten it, of course. He was such a solid hunter.

The knucklehead brothers must have brought it in. (One of the brothers is Blackie, the subject of this thread.)

*sigh*

Aw... They brought you a gift of fresh meat. That's so sweet. It's the greatest honor a cat can bestow on his human.

:D

We've debated that before.

It's either an offering of fresh food - out of love - or a threat. Look what I did to this mouse, and I can do the same to you if you don't start giving me more tuna.

Had a cat that used to bring me fresh meat all the time. Sometimes she would sit next to it and meow until I'd investigate. Then she'd purr and cuddle up to me as if to tell me how much she loved me.

Other times, though, she'd just leave it in the middle of the floor for me to step on. Yuck.

While watering my growing veggies in my wild back yard, Gertrude the drooler cat ran past me with a bird in her mouth while the bird's mate tried to dive bomb her to release her hold. The squawking bird in mouth and the squawking mate added to the ruckus and caught my attention. I dropped the hose and ran after the cat, yelling and clapping my hands, startling her and she opened her mouth for a split second. The bird flew off to the safety of a nearby holly tree with its mate right behind. They sat in the tree and talked to each other for a few and I told them to be more careful of my killer cats in the future.

I felt personally responsible because Gertrude asked for a can of cat food (she opens the door with her paw to let you know she is ready) and I put her off, telling her to eat some lovely dry food and be happy you have that.

After the bird incident, I brought Gertrude in and fed her sliced beef in gravy. I hope it saves the birds for at least a little while.

It will also serve for pouncing on someone's feet.
