Actually, 4400 women showed up to run, jog, stroll or walk in the Annual Run for Women. Over $100k was raised for breast cancer charities. A little rain didn't dampen any spirits.

where do you go?

at least wave as you go by......
anchorage
my aunt lives there
well not in the downtown but close

we go on kayaking trips and hiking
lots of outdoorsy stuff that usually involves outhouses and glaciers

If you're traveling south of town, wave as you drive by Potter Marsh, I'll see you. Anything involving boats and/or hiking is cool. This year, anything involving a glacier is gonna be COLD. And I prefer my outhouses without a door and with a majestic view.

i'll keep that in mind
yes it is one time we kayaked out ten miles from this town by a glacier and stayed on a beach and hiked up a few miles to this abandoned little army base that was all cement and pitch black.
all we had were little head lamps and spilt up, i was crawling through this little tunnel to a gun powder room i suppose, it was so creepy and every noise echoed like crazy.
that was a blast
i even jumped into the freezing water with bergy bits floating past
it was badass

sounds a bit like Caine's Head.....than again, the army was all over this place in WWII....

Today, I found out that the phone companies intend to distribute about 1.1 million new phone books through out the Anchorage area. There's only 670,000 people in the state. What a waste of paper.

From the Tongass to your phone book. :(

It is a waste. I especially hate the off-brand phone books. Why would I want more phone books?

It's part of the old-school trying to hold on as the world changes....and the money, it's ALL about the $$.

Alaska is one of the few US states I haven't been to. I'm told it's beautiful. Next time I go to Canada, maybe.

If you look at most maps of the US, you'll see that it's actually closer to Baja California.

I figured the line was for the only porta-potty at an amusement park.
