I've been in several group chats in the past, and yet it's still a holy grail for me because it actually happens pretty rarely. I've played MFM, FMF, swaps, gangbang (even playing as multiple characters). You're right, it's pretty hot, but even the smallest kink could throw it off entirely. Here's some that I've noticed:

Different Playing Styles: Even when you have more than one, the story gets confusing. Some people write in the third person, while others are less descriptive or only uses verbs; so it's very easy to get confused as to who is in who's hole doing what.

Eager Beavers: I was in this swap one time and I was really getting into the swing of things (teehee), when my usual partner kept IMing me and saying how the guy she's with has that "has vagina, must fuck" mentality. And I was reading into it a bit and found out she was right - all he concentrated on was just getting into her pants and pound it out. This was especially irky because the rest of us were skilled at drawing out the scene through foreplays and detailed descriptions, etc. He ended up just doing what he wanted then left suddenly (leaving me with two lovely ladies), but which reminds me...

Wham, Bam, Thank You, Ma'am: This is especially apparent when it's just the three of you, and the person is the minority gender. There's nothing worse than being in the middle of a scene, getting the girl (or guy) hot and bothered, and all of a sudden, POOF! The body you've been working so hard on just vanishes and your character falls flat on his (or her) face.

Clones or Doppleganger: Seriously, I can tell that it's you using different accounts simultaneously.

Those are just some off the top of my head. There's been some really funny ones too, like gangbangs with no oral, or one person bossing everyone around when she's suppose to be the submissive one. But still, if the people are fun and thoughtful, I can go all night with a group.
