For the past month we have had a small problem in work. Things have been turning up missing. At first it was little things and hard to track. Patients belongings that were forgotten and left behind. Then it became a bit more blatant, belongings vanishing from patients rooms while the patients were still in house as well as things beloning to other staff members.

We had our ideas but nothing could be proved. Also the person we suspected was a member of the inner circle, what I call the Witches Coven. All are ass kissers and untouchable.

Then the shit hit the fan. This morning I rode the bike in to work. I hung my vest and jacket in the store room behind the nurses station. About noon I went into the store room to get something from my jacket and noticed that my vest was missing. I kept it quiet as I looked around and was unable to find the vest.

I talked to a couple of people and they quietly checked their things. Some money and a Credit Card was missing. I pulled the Charge Nurse to the side and informed her of what had happened and of what I suspected. She called Security and I soon found myself in the Security Office talking to the Head of Security. She arranged to be on my floor at the end of the shift.

Just before the end of the shift this Aide was all set to leave. She had her Day Pack closed and waiting on the floor next to the counter. As soon as one of the Aides from the oncoming shift showed up she grabbed her bag, tossed it over her shoulder and headed at a fast clip down the hall towards the elevators. As she did this the Head of Security was coming up the same hallway and "accidently" brushed against her knocking the bag to the floor where it popped open.

There in the bag was a leather vest. The head of security pulled it out and looked it over for the marks I had told her about. (My name written into the lining.) She found this and the Police were called in. The Police searched the bag and found the the missing Credit Card as well as several other items that had come up missing during the day.

The Aide was arrested on theft charges and now there is no way the boss can protect her. It should be amusing to see how she tries though.

Oh I did get my vest back.

Oboy, the vest. I remember that one from the other thread. I'll bet hell nor high water would've stopped you from getting it back. I'm glad security got sneaky on it. I bet she loved it.

Good for you, Cat.

I wonder how the aide thought they could get away with it.

She thought she could get away with it because she is protected by the supervisor. She is constantly in the bosses office kissing up. She is well known for talking herself up with the boss even as she points out the faults of others. (The boss loves this as it matches her leadership methods quite nicely.) She claims to be in Nursing School, which the boss likes, yet when pressed she keeps changing the schools name.

Because of this the Aide gets away with the minor infractions that would get me fired in a heartbeat. Little things like lack of documentation. Failure to show for shifts. Failure to bathe patients. Failure to do documented care. Showing up for shifts impaired.

Not long ago she was accused of not doing patient care she had documented. Her reply was to first claim that the accusation was because of her race and gender then she stated that another Aide was caring for that patient that day.

Unfortunately the boss wasn't in today and now that the entire thing is documented by not only Security but by the Police there is no way she can be protected. What should be interesting is the spin the boss puts on this.

Yes it was that vest.

The Head of Security is almost as nasty as me. She knows I worked Security and we have talked many times about it. She has liked some of my ideas and she has even incorporated some of them into Securities S.O.P.'s as well as their hiring and training.

I'm surprised as you are likely pleased that your vest wasn't entered into evidence.

Well, there's a story that's ended happily...providing, of course, that they don't end up entering your vest into evidence.

Magica,

If you knew this group of five you would be hard pressed to find another name for them.
