Big Brown

Oh, come on, RR - even *you* know there are more things in life than sex, right? It's a horse who's about to be the first in 30 years to win the Triple Crown of thoroughbred racing!

In my excitement I didn't look to see if there was another thread.

Oh well, shit happens.

Unfortunately he didn't win today though.I was rooting hard for him to come in first..

I'm not too much surprised. He had a quarter crack, and his hooves are mostly epoxy at this point. Poor guy. It would've kicked ass to have a new Triple Crown winner. :(

Aaaaaaand so we wait another year. Big Brown's loss will bring some interesting questions to light about the sport of horse racing and hopefully make running safer for thoroughbreds all around.

The good news is that Big Brown is safe and uninjured from latest reports. I think his jockey, Kent Desormeaux, deserves props for this statement. "The racetrack just didn’t hold him up. He slipped. I got him outside early and he cantered. He wanted to jump up in the bridle but I could tell I had no horse. I took care of him."

It's good to see that there are those that still put the horse ahead of the money in horse racing. Good luck in the rest of your career, Big Brown!

Or if you want to be cynical you could say he let up because of the fact that Big Brown's stud rights sold for $20 million.

True, but most stallions can do their business with slight foot problems. Of course, there's always the Barbaro scare now.

i'm just glad once the jockey realized that Bir Brown wasn't going to contend or even come close, he didn't push him and cause him injury.

Its a big shame, glad the jockey took care of him...

I still hope he races curlin at the breeders cup, now that will be a good race.
