it's a fucking mystery. hell, i have one with none. still. it's been like a fucking year. el bastardos!

i checked out your latest poem and took a stroll through the archives. i left comments on several including the latest.

btw, let there be no shame in whoring. if you want to be truly shameless, put a link to your submissions page in your sig line. ;)
there is such a thing as appropriate propaganda

and thank you, but i can't put a link in my sig. i like being an asshole too much.

this is not a bump, but thanks to everyone who voted and commented on those two poems. it's very much appreciated.

I want to know how you can end up with three comments and only one vote?

Only one of my poems has double digit votes (it's got 12).

I suspect that if you had ones or fives, they disappeared in the 'sweeps'. The scoring system is byzantine enough, and inaccurate enough, that I personally don't pay a lot of attention to it as any sort of measure of skill.

especially in poems. i kinda trust my story scores, but really feedback and comments are much more important.

especially when it comes to poems.

i do hate the bastards that give you ones without even giving a reason, though. that shit pisses me off. i can take a one if it's for a real reason, but for no reason or just because they didn't like the title or the subject matter or something silly like that pisses me off.

if i don't like what a story or poem is about i just don't read it. voting on it would be silly, imo, because i simply wouldn't be able to give it a fair shake.

None of my poems have double-digit votes. My highest is a miserable 6 followed by a few with 5 votes. In contrast, my highest number of votes on a story is 202.

I'm not sure of the nature of the relationship between comments and votes. There was some talk in AH that if a person comments, their vote doesn't count towards the score. So, I'm just confused about that.

I used to worry about getting votes on my poems. I've become resigned to just accepting it. I have started commenting on others' poems... maybe some good charma will materialize in my scores. LOL

You've been mentioned a number of times in the new poems reviews. I know at least three times I've recommended that people read your poems. They're good poems lol, they deserve readings and feedback. Unfortunately we seem to wax and wane here on how many people vote and/or comment. I always both vote and comment when both options are available, and I imagine that most people do that--or will tell you if they choose not to vote. I just think there aren't many people here doing either these days.

I wish folks realized that even if they only each commented on one new poem per day, we'd be giving out much more feedback than we currently are.

Maybe we need a contest on comments...

I suggested that in a "How to" piece that I just submitted.

I do appreciate when you and the other reviewers mention my poems in the New Poems Review. Our poetry may not get as much feedback as our stories do, but the New Poems Review is an addition source of feedback for me.

Anyway, I'll just keep writing my villanelles & sonnets... LOL

I submitted a poem today that is different from what I usually do. I like it, but I'm not sure what to think of it in technical poetic quality.

Any friend of sonnets and villanelles is a friend of mine!

Relax. I have 10 scoreless poems from May 2002, a total of 28 from year 2002, and 11 from year 2003, for a total of 39 scoreless poems. Just one of them has under 1400 reads, or 1384 to be exact. Three of them have over 2000 reads, namely 2065, 2109 and 2430 as of a couple of hours ago. There is a reason or two for this lack of votes. But for the same reason I have at the same time 79 poems which have the top average rating 5.00, most of them based on just one vote. The majority of the scoreless poems had a vote in the past at one time or another. And the 5.00 poems also had lower than level 5 votes (even 1's I think) but votes at Literotica get erased by Literotica wonderful (read: idiotic) algorithm. Hey, it's been ages since I looked at my page with the scores. In general I enjoy such numbers (regardless of my scores) but unfortunately Literotica has managed to make them pretty much meaningless.

On the other hand, in a separate thread, I'll write how to make those things interesting and stimulating.

Well they missed one! :) The only vote it kept was a 5. Stupid sweeps. It had four votes at one stage and a score somewhere around 4.7.

Three of my poems have made it to 10 votes, only one of them has kept them. And now, that most of my submissions are over six months old, it seems every new vote disappears within days, sometimes hours.

Makes no sense to me. How the hell are "troll votes" identified? Duplicate votes being swept I get, but troll votes I don't.
