The Brooklyn Bridge

Mount Whitney, Washington State, highest mountain in the 48 U.S. states;

Mount McKinley, Alaska, highest mountain in the U.S. (in fact, in all of North America);

Medway Towns, never heard of them, just Googled them. According to Wikipedia, they are: Strood, Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham, and Rainham (England)

I knew the first one. My Great Uncle Izzie used to fish in the East River, but my grandmother (who he lived with) would flip whenever he brought home a fish from there. Then he'd try to give the fish away to whoever would take it. Once he put one in a suitcase and left the suitcase in Times Square. It was robbed almost immediately. :D

Actually, it's in California. Mt. Rainier is in Washington, which is about 90 feet shorter than Mt. Whitney.

Mauna Kea in Hawaii is technically the tallest mountain in the USA (about 32,000 feet from the ocean floor), but not the highest elevation above sea level.

pinky and perky .....

I need your help guys I am doing a charity quiz thing and one of the questions is 'Name 10 parts of the body with only three letters' ... any ideas I've got about 6 and one of those is suspect lol

You can mention my ass anytime and yours too if you are willing ..

And there I was being so helpful and this degenerates into some serious ass rubbing...

Just think of the fun a couple can have identifying those ten parts {properly arranged, of course} with their lips and tongue.

This avatar appears to have four arms oh well very handy when using a whip .... have you got a name for yours Eluard lol?

Ron update

I don't think he is working hard enough to be out tomorrow quite frankly because as far as I can see he is only walking when the physio makes him do it. He is still bleeding from his drainage and that is worrying as they had been talking about a blood transfusion but as he is eating well said he should make it up himself. Whenever I visit he keeps falling asleep but if I say anything I am accused of nagging a statement his first family seem to jump on with glee. I am certainly realising some home truths where they are concerned I feel almost pushed out at times or that are trying to. I did insist they leave us alone some of the time yesterday and got a very huffy response. He hasn't phoned me today yet and his phone is turned off so of course being me I am sat here worrying, he usually calls before 9 and its now nearly 11 am.

I notice that the hardest part of hospitals (and the things that tend to happen there) isn't the actual procedure. More often than not it's the drama and pain outside the actual event.

Soon it will all be back to normal, and this will be in the past.

*hands you a glass of lemonade and some candied almonds*

pauvre. I'm in for the duration, so keep me posted.

Having been informed that 'they' are in the right and that I should keep quiet and be grateful that 'they' let him go ....... I am very tempted to tell the hospital to keep him or failing that for 'them' to have him back

Did I mention that geography was NOT my best subject in school? Also, did I mention that my greatest thrill growing up--my own personal mischief--was to intentionally give people wrong directions and send them miles and miles the wrong way? Not that I would...

You wait till we get to questions like .. If one private jet is worth two helicopters and four private jets are worth two airlines, how many helicopters are worth one private jet and one airline?

For every five tiddleywinks shot into a red target, six landed in the blue target and for every six in the blue target there were seven in the yellow target. The total was 108. How many finished in the red target?

Replace the ? by any mathematical symbol(except =) to make this correct
19 ? 2 ? 3 ? 8 ? 6 ? 4 ? 1 = 201

I'm sorry you have to deal with this Annie. People can be so cruel sometimes--and really there's no need to act like children is there? Don't they realize you're acting out of love and concern for him?

He's likely still pretty out of it from the anaesthesia. I've had a few major surgeries and it can take two or three days to completely get over the effects of it--everyone reacts differently. Hang tough there girlie.

Don't think I'm not making phone calls right now to people who can do those...

But it's time for a new Bistro Survey.

I took this one to the Bar last night and the results ran to a third page and were a complete scream. I will post those later, once I've looked more closely at them. But meanwhile here are the questions. Some of them are rather similar to things you've already answered in here, but I wanted to give you the same list I gave the Bar last night, just as a record. Poets and people like me are, of course, encouraged to actually write about these:

1. Childhood comfort food?

2. Best place to go on vacation?

3. Best music to fuck to?

4. Superhero you'd fuck and why?

The best answer to that last one, just to give you a tidbit of last night, was from the young, moneyed, uberstraight white boi gansta Eminem clone, complete with backwards sequined rapper ballcap, who said to me, in complete innocence:

"Well, I'm thinkin' Batman, cause, like, he's got no real powers, y'know? So I think I could take him."

I just said, "Wow, sure, that makes perfect sense," and wrote it down. I loved him for that.

Bistro surveys are a little different than those in the bar, because those are mostly anonymous. I just let the notebook travel around all night, check in on it every once in a while, and collect it, full of scribbles, at bar close. Then on the way home we read the entries. It's a different vibe, when drunk people are being anonymously truthful... And so much found poetry comes from these little moments.

dammit. despite myself, I really like people.

Six helicopters are equivalent to one private jet and one airline.

Assuming the ratio holds for every batch of 18 tiddleywinks {5+6+7}, than there are 6 batches or 30 tiddleywinks in the red.

Okay, two out of three's not bad; I'm not about to break out pencil and paper to solve that last one!

1. Childhood comfort food?

My mother's vegetable soup. I make it now. She grated a sweet potato into it that made it really thick and delicious. She made challah once a week too and I loved cinnamon toast made with it.

2. Best place to go on vacation?

Somewhere with a beach and hammocks. The Outer Banks in NC, for example. I like vacations that involve lots of laying in the sun, reading and taking naps. I've always wanted to stay here.

3. Best music to fuck to?

My favorite is bluesy jazz. What a shock, huh?

4. Superhero you'd fuck and why?

I no likee superheroes. I seem to prefer crazy, cerebral men. Can I pick Lester Young or WB Yeats instead?
