STILL OPEN, now to both females and males

story hook:
The Cataclysm, the Time of the Dark, the Collapse, the Divine Purging… these are merely a few of the names it goes by, every faith, cult and organization has their own special name for the period of time that happened over two thousand years ago, but all the facts are the same, something happened (some make claims that they know what, but there’s no proof for any of the claims) and everything changed, the gods all but abandoned their followers for a few hundred years, entire nations began changing hands in the chaos, whole kingdoms were destroyed, and by the time everything settled down, it was to late, everyone who knew what happened was dead, and almost all records of the times before then were destroyed, not to mention the loss of skills, there were countless villages of farmers who didn’t know who to plant their crops properly, there were arcane powered siege engines and other marvels of the old world that would collect dust for decades before anyone found the on switch, let alone how to use them. It was the Age of Strife

But then, by an act of sheer luck, the cipher for the old texts was discovered, and what little official recordings were left could now be read, it led to a new age, the dark age of technology, the relics of old were put to use, against anyone who disagreed with their owners, and with every advance came more death, more violence, but after almost one hundred years of war, the citizens of one of the three major kingdoms involved in the war rose up, quickly overthrowing their leaders in a mostly bloodless coup, most of the military either sympathetic to their cause of off fighting, so the king was killed, and the new governing body sent word to the other nations that they desired peace, they wanted to end the war.

A summit was held, and a treaty was made, with a goodwill joint operation, where all the secrets each nation held in relation to airship travel were used to construct a grand vessel, which would go out in search of one or more of the unknown landmasses that the ancient records spoke of, the great airship flying far overhead of the perilous black sea and the vicious creatures that stopped any ships that tried to cross the depths.

The land they found was a group of landmasses, the largest of which was called Rainia, totaling about the half the size of their own and with no evident governing body, however when they made an attempt to impose themselves as superior to the denizens of Rainia and take control of the lands, they were easily beaten back by the countless warrior groups that were there, all of them working in perfect unison with each other, showing that although it wasn’t very visible, there was someone or something in charge.

That little hiccup aside, a healthy trade relationship grew between the two lands, with many an adventurer going to seek their fortune in the unknown dangers of Rainia, and 43 years to this day, still more pour in from overseas to join the locals in their search for glory, fame and gold.

well it take place in a big ass forest/jungle (about 1.5 the size of austraila) in a long forgotten continent that has been re-discovered about a generation ago but to get the characters togeter ive made up a sort of guild for mercs/adventurers that the characters can come across, theres a recuritment booth by the docks.

i have the first quest planned out, as well ast the second and a few random encounter ideas. i havent made the monsters yet though, im holding off untill i know the party strength (i was thinking of haveing a higher starting level)

Sounds good. Just let me know the details that I need for my character. Lets see if anyone else bites.

I'd definately be up for it, I'm a big D&D fan, and DM once a week for a roleplay group (yes, I am that much of a nerd), PM me your idea's.

well ive never DM'ed before, so you might be able to help me with a few things, ive been looking for some kind of table for advanced level starting gold, and i foud rather... conflicting literature, so if you could tell me how much gold a 6th level party should have it would realy help.

also, dragon magazine issue 310, if you had it in a pdf format, i would be in your debt

I've got a copy of the players handbook, DM guide and Monster manuals all in pdf if you'd like them. A good method for starting gold, is to give everyone the starting adventures kit, and standard equipment for free, roll the gold for level 1 then triple it, won't make anyone rich, but will give a medium amount of gold.

im not going to list them all, but i have 67, and those are only the ones ive downloaded, i know where some more are, i just want that issue of dragon magizine cause it has a specific fighter variant that i want and all i have is a basic discription of it

A party of 6th level has 13,000 gp for starting gold.

I play D&D twice a weak, have DMed a lot of games, and I'm even going to a convention next month. I have most of the 3rd Ed books in hard copy or pfd, though I cant send the files.

thank you, ive been searching everywhere for that little tidbit of information.

now for what you need character wise
1. the standard stats, you are all allowed one trait, two flaws, they are optional, but each flaw gets you an extra feat. you can cull information from any setting, the maximum level ajustment i will allow is +3 and although i will allow player created races, they have to be cleared by check over first. you can have up to 14000gp worth of gear, but you cant have any more than 500 left over, the rest will be gone for story reasons
2. preferibly a picture, but this could wait until later
3. a bio of your early life in what ever country your comming from to go to the place i have yet to name (your gonna be fresh of the boat, just so you know)

What did you mean by standard stats? I know about 8 different ways to generate stats. Are we doing a point buy, if so how much? Something popular for games where the DM wants everyone to have even stats is for everyone to get the same ones to do with as they please. Usually those are: 18, 16, 14, 12, 10, and 8.

hm, i just meant the stat sheet with all the game info (saves, weapons, feats)

but now that i think about it, your stats start at 8, you have 36 points to allocate as you please, no stat can go over 18 at first level (ignoring race ajustments)

example

17 str
15 dex
13 con
13 int
13 wis
13 cha

I almost have my character ready to post. Just wanted to let you know I'm still game. Figured this thread could use a bump.

Background: Varthes grew up in a small village on the edge of a large forest. He spent a good portion of his youth amongst the trees. He learned many of the secrets of the woodlands and even studied the power of nature at the feet of several fey creatures. He met his wolf, Jiggs, while hunting. Eventually Varthes grew tired of his small place in the world. He left his home and has spent the last three years traveling. As he journeyed through the wild lands that bordered the kingdoms he learned what he could about being a ranger and a warrior. He hopes that these skills will let him carve his destiny out of the world. However, he has found that the lands were to tame for a man to make a real reputation. That is why he hoped a boat for the more mysterious continent that was recently discovered and in need of exploration.

Appearance: Varthes is tall and broad shouldered. His muscles are wiry and compact. He has long, flowing blond hair that goes to his shoulders. His eyes are a deep blue. On his left hip is a rapier with an elaborate hand guard. On his right hip is a balanced ax (think tomahawk). He wears a shining mithral shirt with a woodsman’s vest over it. His cloths are simple, but well made. He values practical dress, however he still wants them to be as stylish as possible. Jiggs is a large male timber wolf that is completely grey except for a white patch on his chest and the tip of his tail.

verry nice, ill get to work writing up the main story elements that have to be in tomorrow(dont wana ruin the story, though i may need some help planning the mechanics of some of it)

AND BUMP FOR MORE PLAYERS!!

OKAY, TIME FOR ME TO POST SOMETHING!

As for the story, it will be revealed during the thread, but I an tell you that it will start out with all your characters arriving via airship to the country, then looking for information on possible adventures or quests to undertake, only the various guilds stop the flow of any free information about such things unless they are quite trivial (ie not worth a level 6 characters time) so the characters must join one of the guilds (you can come to the decision to join anyway you want, but as long as it happens its all good)

the guild will send you all on a simple fetch quest for some kind of lost item for which you will need a guide, enter my character which i will post once I’ve finished his sheet, then the rest is all plot which i want to hold back.

Also, there are no detection spells like detect evil or detect good, if your class has one of those, please choose a variant skill set

bumpage, i realy want this to happen, i have put more thought in to this than you could posibly know, if anyone looks at this, and thinks that they dont want to take part, please say why, im willing to change things in order to get players

I can get down this specially since the other one seems to be thoroughly dead. Why no detect spells?

Im guessing because they make it to easy to find out who the bad guy is and it causes to much emphasis on alignment.

exactly, besides, i dont believe in a rigid system of good and evil, i guess i could allow detect spells, thugh even if they are cast correctly, they might not detect what your looking for, simply because the person in question doesnt believe that they are good/evil

now that i think about it, you can detect chaos and law and other stuff like that, just not good and evil

I always forget that because I changed the rules for it in my games. I dont' allow detect law and chaos (cept in magic item styles) and good and evil only applies to intent not alignment. A lich who's visiting his grandma and surrounding her with death knights to keep her safe from bandits wouldn't show up on detect evil, and a six year old who was cheating at marbles would.

you see, i would actualy be good with that kind of system for the good/evil detection, i just cut it because i didnt want it to get confusing in the gamr

Understandable, I tweak so much stuff in my games and mostly only play with my friends so some things that are problematic are things I've long since forgotten.

Got the link to the dice roller and stuff I can put together a charachter pretty easily.

What rolling method are we using? Thanks for the offer on the books but between the d20 site and the books I have Vile Darkness, Exalted Deeds, Erotic Fantasy, Masters of the Wild, Heros of Battle, Libris Mortis, Demon Compendium and a few others that aren't immediately coming ot mind.
