Man U clinched the Premiership title on the final day of the season Sunday, getting a penalty from Cristiano Ronaldo and another goal from Ryan Giggs to win 2-0 at Wigan.

In the meantime Chelsea managed to draw 1-1 with Bolton, which would have put Man U home in any case.

Can Man U be successful with an American owner? I would say yes, especially if they beat Chelsea in the Champion's League final. Comment?

Cool. Thanks. I watch a fair amount but haven't kept up with the rankings.

It has *nothing* to do with who owns the club, not a jot. I thank them for not interfering, but that's about it really.

It is ALL down to the manager and the players and they THOROUGHLY deserve the Premiership trophy. They have pulled themselves up from a terrible start to the season and persevered through several ups and downs. They've done me proud and I predict a 2-0 to united win in moscow.

COME ON YOU REDS!! Champions Again -YES!!!

Then you don't feel Blue at all?

I don't know that much about the management rules of soccer, but the reason the Yankees have always been so successful was because of rich owners. They were willing to spend large amounts of money to buy or hire the best players. In other words, in baseball and some other sports, the wealth of the ownership has a lot to do with the success of the team. :(

Money does make a difference, you can't deny that *but* the Glazers haven't pumped alot of money into the club, they've not shelled out a large amount for us to spend on players or anything like that, the club has ticked over as it has done for years, pretty much under it's own steam.

It still pisses me off that our money is paying off their daft debts that they got into to buy the club in the first place but I love my lads, and I could never desert them.

If money really made the difference, the Chelsea Blues would be the champions. Their 'Rooshian' owner spends money at an incredible rate, but still winds up with second place.

But chelsea don't have the 'extra time' deal with the FA.

How bad is second place? I mean, the Yankees didn't always win the World Series, but they usually did and they almost always won the American League pennant. If it's second out of 100 teams, that's pretty good. If it's second out of ten, that's still successful.

I have no idea what 'extra time' deal with the FA you are talking about.

Gauche may be referencing what people call "Fergie time" he's a bit of a stickler for the right amount of extra time being put on.

Or maybe he's just bitter :p

And Box, second is financially a good thing, statistically a good thing but really? Nothing less than first for one of the top level clubs will do.

It's all about merchandising and sponsorship. The winner sells football shirts with 2008 titles on them - to fans who already have the home shirt, the away shirt, the cup-winners' shirt etc... Sponsors want to be associated with the winner not the second-place team.

Manchester United's merchandise outsells all others particularly in Asia. MU shirts can be seen in the rural depths of China, on protestors in Tibet, in Katmandhu...

I gotta ask, who cares? I mean good greif it's a boring slow paced sport where a bunch of guys run about in baggy shorts and shirts kicking at a ball and getting a shot every 15 minutes or so, in a fast paced match.

Baseball is more interesting, and that's only enjoyable to the young and drunk people. Course I suppose same thing going on with a football match, every 3 minutes somebody wanders by selling beer, and every 15 minutes selling anything else.

Answer: Every football fan the world over, cares. :D

A fast paced match can see a shot every few minutes, but it's not all about goals but if you don't get it, you probably never will. I love the talent, I love the battle, I love the pumping thighs!

And beer isn't sold at football matches anywhere but the bars (at Old Trafford anyway) and it's not allowed on the stands. Snacks are sold only before the match and at half time.

Unless you have played a sport, it's really difficult to understand how hard it is to do some of the things you watch. Dribbling a soccer ball past a defender is difficult and dribbling a soccer ball past a defender and getting enough separation to set up a shot on goal is even more difficult. When you've tried it and then watch a professional do it, you appreciate the level of skill.

Oh heck no not for me. I'm not a sports person anymore, happened a little while after puberty. Before that I was playing football with the guys and baseball sometimes, after puberty I discovered something much more my style. Why I became a cheerleader actually, mom said you gotta do something and I didn't want to do a sport, or any of the other after school stuff, I'm not that good in math, hate chess so on, so I did cheer and met alot of cute guys. ;)

Besides, I want to look cute at least, impossible in those uniforms.
