Live from Philly 30th street station...we bring you the now breaking story heh.

So...Amtrak train headed into Philly, enroute to Newport News, VA...10min from Philly 30th street station apparently ran into someone whom decided the train tracks were a good idea to be on. -smirks- That train has so far been delayed for an hour, with no sign of when it'll arrive...4 more trains have been delayed due to the train sitting on the tracks. Amtraks official statement "The train is delayed until further notice due to police activity"

Unfortunately it is a too common occurence on London's Underground.

The resulting disruption affects hundreds of thousands of people and isn't a guaranteed fatality.

If suicide is contemplated using public transport as a way to die, the curses of thousands of people will follow you into the afterlife.

Og

Yup so far 6 trains now delayed

In my darker days---over twenty years ago---driving in front of a train was always a thought in my head.
Back then they were all freight trains. It seemed to be the easiest option.
I never attempted anything though. Just saying I guess.

I was ready to throw myself under the train I was on during my trip to Chicago in March. It was a miserable trip. Ugh. Amtrak can be a nightmare.

Suicide by cop is another ill-chosen way to go. I remember those guys who held up the bank dressed in full flack suits. They couldn't possibly have though they'd actually get away.

Any time you go through Philly, plane or train, you can expect delays. :rose:

Driving head on into an oncoming semi-trailer is kinda popular here. Self obsessed idiots don't think about the poor bloody truck driver.

Same as diving under a train they don't think of the driver there either. Poor bastard has to live with the image of running them over.

I agree with you but when all you can think of is finding a way out you aren't thinking clear either.
It's the train itself you see, the tons of steel, not the driver.
I'm not defending them or myself.
I only know what my thoughts were.
You want a way to end it all.
Yes, it is selfish. I know that.

Sorry Lynn. Didn't mean to make it a personal comment. :rose:

I get very cranky about such things. Known drivers on the receiving end.

Been close enough to that point myself, but always managed to find something to put it off - even if it's only the thought of some poor bugger having to clean up the mess I'd leave.

I understand.
Just tried to show the other side I guess.
Now I see it with a stronger attitude.
Could be I've learned a few things in therapy?
Today I would never consider driving in front of a train.
Back then I came way too close.

Traumatising one driver is one thing. When I was looking for a way out, I planned to take a whole bunch of people with me. God old university counseling center!

I'm not so sure.

The majority of bank robberies are never solved unless the criminal repeats the crime. Even including the takeovers, which are truly rare.

That said, I'm not sure those two ever intended to live through that experience...

I'm pretty convinced that they didn't. Unfortunately, forensic mind-reading wasn't offered at my university.

And finally so ends my journey...-smirks- 19 hours since I left my dads place...in that time span, if I were driving, I'd have gone home, returned to my dads, and come back here.
Can't say Amtrak handled it wonderfully...because they didn't but then again, -shrugs- I am home, and they got me here all of 4.5 hours later than intended so can't say thats as bad as a lot of airport stories I hear
