Well as most of you are probably aware, the IRS has already begun to release the stimulus payment checks, if you filed by direct deposit. Did a little research into it, found the estimated time that you should recieve it [though they are now ahead of schedule, imagine that]. A little note, if you filed and got your return via direct deposit, if you went through say, Turbo Tax whom routes your direct deposit via a third party bank, you will be mailed your check seeing as how the IRS did not recieve your actual account.

But here's a link with the payment schedule, as well as all the information you would probably want with it: http://turbotax.intuit.com/support/kb/tax-content/tax-tips/5961.html

If you split your direct deposit between two accounts, you'll be mailed a check as well.

I personally doubt the morality of squandering $1,000,000,000 per year for five years while the economy spirals into the abyss the borrowing a few more hundred millions to schmooz the public into thinking you actually give a rat's ass about the citizens of the United States.

Can you say, "Too little, too late?"

I would have much preferred having my money pooled with many others and spent on something useful and needed. This plan is rather like giving everyone at the family reunion a dollar to buy an ice cream cone when the roof of poor grandma's house leaks every time it rains.

For some of us, that money is useful and needed.

So if I filed online, say through H & R block with direct deposit, then my check will still be mailed? If so, fucking great. Then we won't get that much needed money til the end of June, first of July.

That would depend on whether the government or H&RB made the direct deposit to your account. If the governement has your account as the destination of yourrefund, then you'll get a direct deposit. If they have an intermediate H&RB account, then you get a snail-mail check.

You should have a copy of your return, so look at the account number the government sent your refund to.

Well, according to the IRS site, $2100 should plop into the bank on Cinco de Mayo.

This is very true, like TurboTax routes through Santa Barbara Bank...so because you paid for Santa Barbara to set up a temporary account...that account no longer exists and so they'll mail it to you. Sucks don't it? LOL I'm a do my taxes in January type of person so yea...long wait for me heh

all you do is bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch about getting your money and how it takes too long. You need to learn patience, grasshopper. Be glad you're even getting anything.

I have my doubts that this will do the economy any good. But I'm still completely in favor of the program. Any money that comes TO me FROM the government is a tiny step in the right direction, toward righting the wrongs off all the money they TAKE from me at gunpoint......Carney

Not for me. I actually do my own taxes on paper forms with a pen and caluclator, so the account # on my return is a permanent account they can try to buy my vote with direct deposit.

Well lets see...if you take note I was just putting up information originally...before this turned into a bitch thread. In all honesty I thought they didn't come out till June. And if one can't bitch just a bit about the timing and irony of things then hey whats life for?

As for getting anything...I believe it could be used for other projects, and think there are much better ways to stimulate the economy other than give people a few extra hundred dollars. Are there people whom really do need it? Yes there are. However, this is not going to solve our problems in the least bit.

-chuckles- Well I admit I am at fault for enjoying the ease of TurboTax...they have all my information from the previous year and always makes it a lot easier to fill out my taxes. LOL good point on the trying to buy votes...ah gotta love it

On my online banking statement, the deposit said U.S. Treasury. However, when I use the "Where's my stimulus check?" tool on the IRS website... there's no information available. If they were sending by direct deposit, it should be done by May 8th, according to the schedule, so it should show up in the tool by now (unless I'm doing something wrong... the total number of exemptions are the total number of people in your family that can be claimed including yourself, your spouse, and your children... right?)

Crim, it probably isn't showing up because it hasn't been put in the queue yet. Mine's not due to be deposited until the 16th, and it's not showing up, either.

If you look at the main page of the rebate info, it says that the "where's my check" tool is only good if your payment has already been processed in the system.

Maybe. I hope that's all it is. That money is sorely needed and as soon as possible. It was a little crushing to find out I *might* not get it until end of June/first of July (if it comes by check).

You can also check with the company you filed through. I know TurboTax has a FAQ page up, as does H&R Block.

Do you have a copy of your return? If so, you can check the account number listed to see if its going directly to you, or if it will be a paper check.

Yes, though it is upstairs where Mr. Surly is. I might have a copy on my laptop. I'll check.

Well, my soon-to-be-brand-new 27" iMac (or 15" MacBookPro, haven't decided which to buy just yet) will be VERRRRRRY grateful to the gubbamint's economic stimulus! And all the internet porn I'll be perving over with it (when I'm not "improving myself and reaching for my personal career goals" through design work made more efficient with a new system to use) will be equally AS stimulating!

Hey I don't look a gift horse in the mouth -shrugs- It may just give the economy a lil shot in the arm. And lord knows there are people whom are dependant upon it. A lot of people are just looking at it as things they need to take care of, food, gas, mortgage payment...things of that nature that will ease them for a little bit. For me? It means almost a third paycheck.

I saw all the stuff on the news about the payments coming out and I thought, saved! Then I actually went on the IRS web site and found out it won't be coming until July. Thunk. I'm sure it will still be useful when it gets here but the meantime is the problem.

I wouldn't worry about not showing up on the "where's my stimulus" page, although payments through ***-**-**21 (mine) are processed and due to post on the seventh. I get the impression because you're looking at July for a snail-mail check, that your last two are closer to the **75 end of the MAy 8Th bracket thant the **21 end where I'm at.

I know from the teletax information number for tax refunds that the IRS computers only update one day aweek for simple status reports -- for refunds, it's every Friday. Your stimulus might actually show up before the EOW (End Of Week) Report generator puts the information online next friday.

If there's still no information by next friday, then you're probably going to get a check in July.

Mhmmmm if you're really concerned about it, call your bank a couple of days before you expect the deposit. On something like this, the bank recieves notification that they are going to recieve the deposit, and can tell you up to 3 days before the deposit that its incoming.

Interestingly enough... these rebate checks have been a hot topic of discussion at work. (As it has been nationwide I'm sure) And the vast majority of the folks I have talked to are planning to plunk it down on some sort of debt that they owe. Only a handful of people are actually planning on going out a buying stuff with the money.

And I heard on news radio here that a recent poll of around 150,000 americans shows that only something like 18-25% are actually planning on spending the money on stuff. The vast majority are socking it away in savings or plunking it down on debt... which by the way... does very, very little (if anything) for the economy.
