Extreme Clouds

The one from Glynnnah looks like the Riders of the Apocalypse are about to appear.

Love those pics.

I posted a Cloud Appreciation Society thread before, back in nineteen hempty-hem, which is filled with all things cumulous. Here's the link again for you cumulo-nimbophilic amnesiacs and n00bs

Wow! Very neat site, Joe - thank you for the link. (I missed it before.)

:)

And cloudy - gorgeous clouds!

Makes me think about my username on here. If my mom is cloudy does that mean that I'm lightning >.>.

Those are some awesome cloudscapes! I love cloudscapes. Here's one I took last year.

The first three pictures on this thread are Mammary clouds.

London had some this weekend. Turbulence at the bottom of Mammary Clouds can endanger aircraft.

I've never seen mammary clouds in person, although I've seen some of those greenish curdled ones you see when a thunderstorm is building up. What kind of special conditions cause them (the mammary clouds) to form? And I liked that one that looks like a flying saucer. I wonder what caused it to form?

Here in south Florida we get some great storms. I have a way to enjoy them. As they come in I go out and drop the Bamboo Blinds on the side of the patio facing the winds. As I'm doing this I have coffee brewing. Once everything is ready I pull one of the chairs back against the side of the trailer and place a small table next to it. When everything is ready I grab the thermos of coffee and a cup and settle into my chair while turning off the outside lights.

Sitting out on my patio I have witnessed several Lightening strikes nearby including several on the drawbridge down the street. I have watched a couple of trees get hit and once an empty Mobile Home. (That one was impressive.)

I love watching storms even though they make my wife nervous and frighten the hell out of my cats.
