As I said to one of your friends, it's not my fault (or my concern) if my world has been bigger than that of some others. I don't apologize for it.

If I haven't demonstrated my knowledge of the topics I weigh in on here, I think it's because that's not what you and your friends are looking for. You're looking for opportunities to hurt and degrade to impress each other and define the parameters of the mob.

This is a social forum. It's not an organisation, it's non-hieratical, there are no ranks There is no leader. No boss. That means, yes, it is clubby. It's never going to be not clubby. It's a hangout.

Is clubism childish? Perhaps. Is it avoidable? Absolutely not. Is there a way around it? Yes-- join the club. Telling people they must appreciate you isn't the way, though. I challenge you to name me one social (not organisational) construct in which a newcomer has demanded and gotten a completely different group dynamic simply because they expected it. You find a niche, or you don't. You decide if the social benefits are worth fitting in for, or not. If not, fine, but something must keep you here, even though the regulars are so mean to you.

The incident I refer to is the very first posting of mine after the hiatus of a year in posting--after dipping in and out very quickly previously. As I said, it's all available in the profile records. Try checking your facts before running with what you would like to believe.

I checked back to your earliest thread, sr. (The posts only go back 500, but the threads go right back). It was before I joined. I tend to agree with Stella's opinion (but then, you expected that, it's part of the gang thing that you alluded to in your second post on that thread).

I don't think this forum would create a scouries - not even this lot is that perverse.

As to not paying attention to the valid points scouries makes, I call bullshit. You don't have to go too far back in this thread to see me agreeing with him, but wishing he'd keep the sensible stuff apart from the cloud cuckoo land stuff.

The database has maximum amounts of seconds allowed for each request. It will stop communicating with your browser at that point.

This is particularly frustrating if you've ever tried to get "printable version" of a long thread-- again, it will only give you a certain number of posts.

That said, although I've been told to leave on occasion, I've never told anyone else to do that (although I've hinted it when the someone telling me to leave has little current Lit. author connection to be here themselves--and I've suggested from time to time that the topic being pushed by a writing drone would best move to the GB)..

And I haven't advocated any enforcement at all. I only bring it up to posters telling me what I have to/should do (what "everyone" thinks about me). So, I haven't tried/won't try to convince Laurel and Manu of anything like that myself.

sr, you haven't heard a thing Stella has said to you have you? You've ignored her point and tried to turn things back to Scouries. She has made the point and made it very well that clubbism is a part of human interaction in all it forms. You either join the club, you try and tear down the club and everything around it, or you leave and start your own club.

I'll let people draw their own conclusions of which one of those you and scouries both are trying to do. You've said that scouries doesn't listen or changes the subject when he doesn't like what is being said. Well, I hate to tell ya but so do you.

I guess I will take part of the blame for the meaningless page syndrome, since I deflected the then-current flow of chat.

Having said that, I am curious to know whether the pages of this thread have been rated in terms of quality, and if such a list exists, where one might find it. With over 100 pages to sift through without such a guide, I would appreciate a reader's guide to this thread, so that I can digest the prime morsels without having to endure meaningless posts like this one here.
