I was surprised by how fast feedback came in on my first submission. there was helpful criticism, some liked it, and others had the negative comments without any kind of qualification. No one has offered any story as an example to go read. There are many stories over many categories. That would be a help.

I'm not sure you're in the right place. In fact I don't even understand what you're asking for.

I'm not sure, but I think he/she was wondering if someone could produce good examples of stories in each category for comparison or as a benchmark.

...wanders off to find tin opener for large can of worms...

All those wishing to pimp their work please form an orderly queue...

The top-rated stories in the toplists for each category may not necessarily be the best that the category has to offer, but when one has a vote total that's on the upper end or higher than those around it, and has a high enough score to make the toplist, it should be at least represent a fair mark of quality.

There will be a lot of stories that don't make the toplist that should, just as there will be a lot of stories that do make it that perhaps shouldn't, but it's somewhere to start.

The favorites page ( linked from "sneak peak" on the front page of Lit ) could be another avenue.

Once you've found something you like, then you can crawl your way through that author's favorites, working outward and seeing the various styles and voices. If you like an author's work, then there's a fair chance that you'll like something that they like as well.

Hope that's something useful.
