I have met people from basic yahoo and msn chat. I don't (typically - there have been one or two exceptions) meet people who I haven't had an ongoing chat relationship with for a while. It is dangerous to simply meet someone based on their profile photo and handle - take some time to chat/e-mail back and forth so that you have an idea of who they are and what they are looking for.

As long as you are able to carry a conversation, any site can bring you someone interesting to meet with. But always be wary & follow your gut instinct. You don't have to pay to be on Adult Friend Finder; I'm a member there (under a different name) and don't pay for my membership. It does limit what you can get to, but I mostly only go there to chat. However, depending on what area you live in, AFF people often have "meet and greets", where you can go to meet other people in a nonsexual, no pressure setting.
