News from the land down under

Yep, saw that in the news yesterday. They have also had another child which died from congenital heart disease. From what the second wife said, and that the daughter says they began sleeping together 2 weeks after she moved in following her marriage split, I suspect it might not be as new a thing as they have claimed. I am surprised all they got was a good behaviour bond and a small fine ((AU$100 I think I read in the first report)...the times, they are a changing.

Eeeeeeeewwwww... That gave me the heebie jeebies. Makes me not want to look at the photo of me with my dad that I've got here.

I am tempted at times like this to deny my country of birth! Please, we do not all behave that way!!!

They've been in this relationship for seven years, they had a baby in 2001, and the relationship was allowed to continue so long? Yikes.

She has other children from a previous relationship that live with them?

What kind of psychological harm is this doing to them? Your grandfather is your stepfather?

Ugh

Not to mention as some have, whether they are in danger of him getting up close and personal with them. Seems her mother divorced him while he was serving time for armed robbery...it just gets more and more like a really badly written script for a B grade movie.

*nod* I thought that the second wife implied that the daughter started hanging out with him at 15...and that the marriage fell apart shortly thereafter.

Yep, seems to be a hint that things began much earlier than they are saying now.

Hmmm...

...I think some of you are repulsed because once you clicked on the link, the thought of them having sex flashes across your mind for a moment.

*sits back and laughs maniacly as retching can be heard even as far as two doors down the hall*

I love suggestive impulse. It's so evil.

And no TMS, we don't hold it against you or your country at all.:rose:

We just had a nice little blow out in everyone's favorite, backward state of Texas.
Who are we to judge?

Nah nah, didn't get me! Even now as I write about it, I can't conjure up the visual. Although in the photo on the first link, she clearly looks like her dad, and that's a little weird.

Every time I see this thread, I can't get the song "I'm my own Grandpa" out of my head.

Nah, didn't happen for me that way when I first saw it in the news earlier in the week. For me it is more about the safety of the other children, and the health of the child they share and any others which they might bring into the world, and a lot about how many lives they have messed up seemingly without a single thought for anyone but themselves. Then there is also the fact they are living on welfare and any health issues with their child is likely to also cost the taxpayer. Regardless, I don't feel I need to renounce my country of birth and nationality as no country has 100% pure and upstanding citizens, and no-one else can be held responsible for the actions of another, especially another they have never met. If it wasn't for Aussie citizens feeling a need to report what was happening, it likely would still be going on...then again, I don't believe they will stop their relationship and just meet to share the child so it likely is still going on....call me a sceptic.

Whoa, I can't believe somebody else has even heard of the song! I will have to go check out the muppet version!

I recently read something similar on CNN's site - apparently a couple of siblings in Germany (brother/sister) are "married" and have had several children together, all of which have some sort of birth defect/serious medical problem. He's gone to jail several times for the crime of incest and was facing another jail sentence (several months/years - can't remember) as of the publication of the story.

I agree with cat in that the concern should be for the children involved for all sorts of reasons.

It would seem that the idea of incest (especially when there are offspring involved) is a survival of species instinct.
