Thank-you so much, Sarah. I had expressed concerns along those lines with another member who plans to attend this year. I wanted that person to report back on the way things really work so I wouldn't be surprised next year. I hate surprises, especially embarrassing ones. I am much relieved after this post, I can tell you!

And next year I will tell you, personally, and maybe even show you how much I appreciated it. ;)

I have had the pleasure of meeting many online aquaintances over the last twelve years. I have never had a bad experience. I think the reason for that is I never set expectations other than the expectation that I am going to like the person. Because I already do. There is always a little discomfort at first, really more of an adjustment period. In a way, you are meeting a person you already know, at least intellectually, but now you have to become introduced to the physical person. Expect that. Give them some space to become acquainted. The acquaintance time will go quickly I am sure and soon, Rob will be sitting in someones lap...

So my advice is to go and enjoy the pleasure of meeting people all over again. Give them space, give them acceptance for who they are and a good time will be had by all.

I'll be leaving very early Thursday morning. There is a smaller group of us checking in Thursday and hanging out at the hotel Thursday night.

But the first real party for Chicago 2 is Friday night, 7:00 - 10:00. :D

Those of you who are arriving early, do any of you know where you're going to be on Friday afternoon? I have to work but I'm off at 2:30, and I thought I'd just head down to the hotel afterward instead of going home. Thanks! :)
