I first became involved in bdsm back in 2000. For me, looking back now, none of it really counted as much until seven months ago, when I became involved with my new dom. The first dom was mostly L/D. Now there are "real" things to be concerned about, like bruises. I was at my doctor's office last week, when it suddenly dawned on both of us that she may notice all the bruises on my breasts and thighs, depending on what type of exam she did. We actually wondered if she'd call the police for domestic violence. Hey, we live in a small town in the south, where most people have no clue about bdsm. Anyway, we got past that without any problems.
A few days ago, while in Atlantic City, we were suddenly faced with the reality of our lifestyle again. How were going to explain bruising when I got my breast tattooed. By the way, I am now the proud owner of a tattoo that has the bdsm symbol in the center and sun rays surrounding it. Before we even got anywhere near the A.C. boardwalk, my dom emailed the symbol to the place. When we got there, the owner was trying to look up "bdm." His wife/girlfriend, who did the tat, asked about my bruises and I told her it was from a car accident. I had one about four years ago that left my breasts bruised, so that just popped out of my mouth. Then during the tattooing, she asked about bdsm and what it meant. I told her it was our lifestyle. My dom said it had to do with a dominant/submissive lifestyle. She repeated, "submissive" and said nothing else.
I was actually surprised that the guys at the tattoo parlor didn't know about bdsm, since they had so many drawings of naked women in chains. lol Anyway, we talked about it afterwards and decided it we handled it fairly well. We weren't sure how they'd react, if we shared too much. Would they call someone? Just act weird about it? Be cool with it? At this point, we really don't know.
Anyone have experiences like this? I'm sure many of you have. How did you handle it?
