Why are all the streets closed? Sorry if I should know but I've been in another world cooking, looking up recipes, talking to tungtied on the phone while he drives by places in Asheville we might want to rent lol.

I was talking about Asheville a coupla days ago. I realised that a friend I made on here is from a town about 40 minutes from Asheville, and we had a good time talking about the overall area. Small world, and all that =)

I've met a few people here who live in the Asheville area. And a few people have given me names of poets/artists there. I'm psyched. We'll see if we can afford to make the move this summer. We so don't want to spend another winter here on the gulag. :D

gulag lol!

dammit, you all need to come to Kansas. It's pretty cool here, and I just can't see myself relocating East. Oceans just make me nervous. You just can't tell what they're going to get up to next.

Yeah yeah. Been to oceans. Both, even. And over a couple as well. Put my feet in them, swam in them, grooved on their Bigness.

They still make me nervous.

Like the spires of churches.

Here's
another one from that same guy. It's from the Gallery of Regrettable Foods, which is too damn hilarious.

in and out today. I've had to actually do my job a few times. yay!

Have you ever watched "Throwdown" on Food channel with Bobby Flay. Damn ! last night I watched it for 2 hours and had to change my shirt 3 times from all my drooling.... the ultimate sticky sticky buns in Boston had me wanting to get the monkey man to ship me some...:D

I'm having foodgasms. I ordered the ice cream maker attachment for my kitchenaid mixer today and I'm looking up recipes for gelato and frozen custard and italian water ice and drooling. :D

I watched that last night, too. I couldn't fall asleep till late as usual and I was laying there with the remote flipping through the channels (a terrible habit that I hold ee responsible for hooking me on lol), and oh those sticky buns! And Bobby Flay cracks me up, he's such a New Yorker. Pine nuts should not be on sticky buns!

And Bij love, I have the exact opposite feeling from you about oceans. It makes me nervous to be too far from one. That comes from always living on the coast, I guess. A friend once asked me why I feel this way and I explained that if there's a disaster, I'd have an escape route. This of course is insane because what am I going to do? Start swimming? But it is the way I feel and I keep telling myself that Asheville is only a few (four maybe?) hours from the Atlantic Ocean, so that should be good enough for me. And I like being surrounded by mountains. Sorta like a fortress to keep me and my neuroses safe. :D

Those Boston sticky buns look really good. I bet I could make them. Oh, I better just concentrate on going to the gym in the morning!

Roadworks mostly and 'no left turns' signs when we obviously needed to turn left to get into the damn station! Finally made it by the back way picked up my sister and got to the exhibition an hour late, nearly bought a wonderful velvet jacket with a sumptious hood till ones husband said it made me look like a marquee. Dammit I wanted that jacket I lusted for that jacket as I did a darling little cap made of woven silver strands and pearls (which fitted me perfectly) till I asked the price .... £1550 (which must be about 3000 dollars) oooo errrrrr maybe not !!
I was born by the sea in Norfolk which is very flat, very nice for holidays in the summer but in the winter there was nothing to stop the wind whistling in from the sea and seemed to be permanently freezing cold. Couldn't go back now to living in a place containing two pubs and a shop which was where I grew up.

St Patrick can bite my ever so minisculely Irish ass, but I'll sure as shootin enjoy some corned beef and cabbage and pound down a stout or two tonight in appreciation for things Celtic.

And a big "Slainte" to my fellow snake-friends :D

NOTE: While I have a bare shred of Eire in my background, there's a pile of Scottish. So I'll give a nod to St Paddy, but I'll wear in a kilt in a heartbeat

We are strongly Orange in flavour and there's a dram of Scottish as well.

I prefer rye to scotch and Irish myself, so I'll just go and mutter my mixed Canadian heritage into my corned beef and kraut ...

I'm a McJew!

Well ok I'm 100% Jewish (as far as I know), but I'll be a Mrs. Mc.... when ee and I tie the knot.

But we had leftover chicken parm and spaghetti for dinner. I guess what I mostly am is Joisey. :D

But in honor of the Irish, here's a great Pogues song, and then the beautiful haunting voice of Yeats reading The Lake Isle of Innisfree.

Haven't had any alcohol tonight. It's work for me to drink booze, honestly. Can't even think about doing it if food is involved.

I will state for the record both my entirely appropriate love for the Pogues and the Dubliners, and my probably innappropriate-to-mention love for hotty Jewish girls.

I don't drink. Really almost never. I have no interest in the way most of it tastes or makes me feel. I am not without interest in vice, but drinking's not mine.

But Shane McGowan is a lovely mad poet, and I seem to have a thing for crazy Irish men. And Irish and Scottish? Both Celtic, yes?

I could easily have written the same sentiments. I've found a few libations whose taste I'm okay with in small doses, but naught that I'm willing to drink in profuse amounts. And I do NOT care for what it does to my self-control.

Do. Not. Want.

Okay, McEwen's Scotch Ale was the nectar of the gods, but they've changed hands and no longer shine with grace and beauty.

Absolutely.

And, frankly, I'm straight but I have a thing for Shane McGowan :D

I totally would not have known. I was just sayin'. :innocent:

Blessings are upon us this day! The dear, sweet Cordelia is lurking! Yes, I'm yelling! That's wonderful >>> committing a Bistro deadly sin next>>> :nana: :nana: :nana:

My most humble apologies and grovels...I am having a fiddle on a certain subject and just hope it works and will be back with it shortly (says she enigmatically)

I forgot to drink anything yesterday. It failed to cross my mind at any time when I was near the guinness that viv bought to cook with. I was too busy working, lifting, fiddling with a vintage bike a buddy brought over.

I feel like I failed at St Paddy's Day by not drinking at least a little bit.

It looks like I'm in good company here. Lots of non-drinkers, eh?

Really?!!!

When? Where? This morning?

Oh Cordy, come back if just for one poem. (Anyone who doesn't know Cordelia, read some of her poems and prepare to be enchanted!)

:rose:
