So in order to go along with the kink factor of the BDSM forum, I was thinking of making a thread celebrating the best comedians and stand up comics all around the world, who might have mentioned a few things that aren't in the 'mainstream' vanilla lifestyle.

I've seen a lot of Eddie Izzard's work and not even mentioning that he's a Faaaabulous male lesbian, (with a die hard fashion sense and KILLER legs) he's also side-splittingly hilarious.

And although sometimes Margaret Cho makes me wince and shudder, MOST of the time she's get-me-some-tissues-now-before-I-pass-out

I apologize for the crappy quality, it's the only one I could find on youtube. ^_^

Please introduce me and the rest of Literotica to your favorite comedians! Videos or audio of their best bits are more than welcome.

I second the motion. Izzard is amazing.

I third it. He is amazing.. I love the bit where he explains that he's an executive transvestite and how he likes girls. He's the first comedian to ever make me laugh so hard I peed my pants.

Malin and I quote him all the time.

Eddie Izzard
Billy Connelly (though I've not seen him in years)
Jeff Dunham

Of the current crop of comedians, I really am a fan of Carlos Mencia.

Richard Pryor was a hero.

And nobody, but nobody, will ever beat Jerry Clower for good ol' boy, down home, _clean_ humor.

Oh god.. I'd forgotten Jerry Clower.... so many memories flooding back

Eddie Izzard definitely. Restores my faith in people's smarts. Love the colonial history routine "Do you have a flag?"

Stephen Colbert is the only reason I wish I had cable. Other than project runway.

Sarah Silverman in small doses, very small. Her songs are funnier than her routines are generally. "Give the Jew Girl Toys" is pretty great.

David Cross and Bob Odenkirk, but neither without the other.

I did see 'Shut up you fucking baby" in concert and what seemed kind of whiny and wannabe Lenny Bruce recording was downright incredible and cathartic laughs live.

I love Odenkirk's writing though - you can see it in any show he's ever touched. The "Ask Manson" on Stiller was his if ever anything was - it's totally out there absurd, kind of dada funny.

Speaking of which, my GOD I wish they'd put Cartoon Planet out on DVD.

And my favorite thing in a long time is the SNL DVD of Bob Smigel's cartoons. (Hint - Stephen Colbert is in there somewhere)

First season Newharts, in a total contrast to all the above posted.

Suzanne Plechette, RIP.

That and "Oh you're a plumber. What on earrrth is that?"

actually, pretty much anything from "Dressed to Kill", is used for one-line fodder for Malin and I

Wow. Where have I been? I don't know any of those people. Except Stephen Colbert.

Added on my list of must watch/read.

I saw Eddie Izzard in NYC a few weeks ago when I was there, was a tiny theatre and he was brilliant. I laughed so hard when he stood there and just said "oh look, dust floating.... its as if it is saying 'FUCK YOU NEWTON!'"

He was amazing, and it was a real pleasure to see him in a tiny theatre like that.

I also love Bill Bailey and Dylan Moran (Ive seen them both live too, so you can be even more jealous now Velvet ;) )
Needless to say, one of my all time favourite shows is "Black Books" which stars them both.
Bill bailey is not only good at telling jokes/funny stories, but he can also use music in a very funny way, as seen HERE (if you understand french, you will find it funnier too!)

Dylan moran just likes to rant, but is very funny doing it Like here....

I also like Bill Hicks, Chris Rock and George Carlin..

For whatever reason I'm not real familiar tuned in with the newer comedians, I guess I'm getting old. Having said that, I do think Eddie Izzard is brilliant!

Geoff is right, Jerry Clower was great. So was Justin Wilson.

I loved Eddie Murphy's stand-up.

Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders. Good stuff

Ron White, I don't know why but that "Drunk in Public" bit cracks me up everytime I hear it.

Bill Ingvall - way funnier than Foxworthy and Larry the Cable Guy

Yes, I have watched Blue Collar Comedy Tour too many times.

Love Bill Bailey, this is a total classic. I'm also a big fan of Bill Hicks and have all the episodes of 'Black Books' on DVD.

And yes, I'm so jealous now. *sulks*
