The New York Observer reports that in Austin, Texas, over the weekend, feminist icon Gloria Steinem belittled Sen. John McCain's five-and-a-half years as a POW and said the media would treat that war record differently if it were a woman veteran's record.
"Suppose John McCain had been Joan McCain and Joan McCain had got captured, shot down and been a POW for eight years?" Steinem asked, suggesting the media would ask "'What did you do wrong to get captured? What terrible things did you do while you were there as a captive for eight years?" ...
Referring to his time in captivity, Steinem said, with bewilderment, "I mean, hello? This is supposed to be a qualification to be president? I don’t think so."

Well she is correct. I salute him for serving our country but his POW status has nothing to do with ability.
well,
Kerry in 04 thought his did

more then being a first pussyThe fact is, McCain's past history as a POW doesn't qualify him for anything except perhaps making him an authority on the torture techniques used on POWs. Which he apparently has forgotten since he completely caved to the Bush administration's demands that they be allowed torture techniques ...er "Enhanced interrogation"..
So he learned what as a POW that would be applicable as President?

Maybe the Ethics Reform Committee.
I guess I'm mostly amused at how quickly Busybody has jumped on board the McCain bandwagon, after deriding him for months when his pal Guiliani was still in the race.
That's the good thing about being the perfect party man: you never have to think for yourself. The party has decided on McCain, so it's now McCain all the time. AJ has been a little slower to come around, but that can't be far away.

If he hadn't completely caved on the "enhanced interrogation" bill maybe.
He compromised with the White House on torture. He compromised his integrity after taking a stand against torture.
Before that I actually had some respect for the man, but since then the "Straight talk express" has turned into the "Bullshit express".
so when the DUMZ scream
CHICKEN HAWK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and the you have McCain, who not only served, but has TWO sones serving now
ITS TIME TO SHIT ON EM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
cause being a PUSSY in the WH
is MORE VALUABLE![]()
His service is admirable, his son's service is admirable, but immaterial to his running for office.
Being in the military and getting captured is not a qualification for President. After all, your side completely trashed Kerry's service in the same war. But now that it's a Republican then his military record is of utmost importance.
