With another red vs. blue state showdown inevtiably coming and core democrats and republicans unmovable in their disdain for each other, how can get past this deadlock? A third party is an almost impossibility since the voting laws and regulations, along with the cost of running a campaign, have ensured a two party system. The only exception I could see in the near future would be some popular celebrity running..but I don't know of one with the intelligence to pull it off. So how do we get around such decisive issues as abortion, gun control, welfare reform, immigration and list goes on..I think the answer is a return to the long abandoned policy of State Rights. It was an unfornate victim of the abolition and civil rights movement but I think it makes sense today. Why not leave alot of these decisive issues to the states and than you can live or even visit in a state that holds your values. For, example, If you think abortion is murder and you like to live in state that promotes morality, like the south. live there..be happy. And if your pro-choice move up to east coast or west coast and have your choice. If a woman wants to have an abortion and lives in state that allows it..go their for the procedure. Why must everything be controlled on a national level?? With the internet, the media ect..the bounds of distance and regions are less likely to cause a true seperation movement from ever happening again..and if needs to happen it will anyway. What do you think?
