some of my artwork!

well done.

Don't really expect to "learn the human body by heart"...;)
Though similar they are ALL different....and THAT is part of the beauty. Too often we tend to generalize when drawing rather than seeing.

nah well i do, i want to learn every muscle. my teacher does and hes amazing, and i know most concept artists do...so why cant i? it helps to know what is there i think, so you know what it is you are drawing.

my art teacher in high school used to tell me that "yes it is important to draw what you see. but there comes a point where it is very helpful to know what is there."
That is true... have a working knowledge of structure and an understanding.
Try to remember that proportion guides (head ratios etc..) are not HARD and fast.
Learn every muscle and what it does..absolutely! Just do not believe that by knowing that you will know EVERY body.

Not a bad start mate. I'd like to see more of your sketches as you gained confidence.

Cool, another comix artist - looks pretty good. If you want to improvise, you have to sketch a lot, do alot of mannekins, practice proportions - it's probobly the biggest pitfall for beginning comix artists, proportion and gesture: this holds true even with heavy stylization, Manga, etc., it's all based on exaggeration of basic human proportions.

Don't worry too much about details, but as you get more confident, think about how the body works, where the muscles attach, particularly w/'respect to the clavic and pelvic girdles.

That's not bad, the facial proportions look good, the chick at the bottom with the long legs is a manga thng, and it's a very common stylization technique to lengthen the legs - read a study the other day that people with longer legs are deemed more attractive.

Nice work. Anatomy books geared for the artist can be good in terms of muscle and understanding the movement of the human body. They come in a variety, some better than others. I ave even seen a couple which go into details such as the differences between male and female belly buttons. I also have some on animals, but need to be more dedicated to sit down and study them and then put it all into practice to improve my work. At the moment I feel like doing it, but alas, without the use of my right hand it is not going to happen in practical terms for awhile. :(
