The Arlington mayor whose risque Web photo garnered international attention was recalled in a close election Monday.

Residents of the Columbia River town voted 142-139 to recall Carmen Kontur-Gronquist. The ouster took effect Tuesday, Arlington city officials said.

"I knew it was going to be close, but I didn't think it was going to be that close," Kontur-Gronquist said Tuesday afternoon.

One of our local City Councillors had to admit that he had appeared in porn videos when a student. They had helped to pay his bills.

At the next election he was re-elected with an increased majority. Were the electors voting for his policies or his equipment?

Poor Al. You know what, Salena? His advisors tired to get Al to contest all the votes in Florida, and he refused. He was stubborn and wouldnt listen to anyone, cause he was the smartest guy in the room.

It's really hard to believe that the idiots in Arlington would even bother to raise such a national stink over there. Arlington, Oregon - Population 524. Area - 2.1 sq miles. :eek:

One would think this was some major metropolitain city. It's not. The biggest thins in Arlington (yes, I've been there) are a bloody grain elevator and a Chevron gas station.

Besides, the Mayor position in Arlington isn't even a paid position. It's voluntary. So why the big deal?

I can see one thing wrong with the picture. She is hanging from a City Fire Truck. Clothed or unclothed that was wrong. However, that seems never to have occured to the hillbilly's in Arlington. :rolleyes:

Personally, James. I honestly think the over-weight, moronic hicks in Arlington saw this hottie bobbing around town and thought they could get a piece of the action by making her mayor. Then it all went to hell when she actually did something as mayor and wouldn't put out.
 
I had the impression that the problem was not the attire. It was the improper use of the fire truck. :confused:

In the recall election in CA a few years back, Ahnold was the winner, but a porno actress came in tenth out of about 200. I voted for the actress. :p
 
There was something about a 'Golf Course' briefly mentioned in the Fox report, apparently their is a political base involved in the recall election. My guess would be money talks and investors wanted city cooperation and the Mayor was reluctant, perhaps?

Yeah. That was Mary Carey. Loved her idea of selling porn tapes to finance state goverment. It's that kind of thinking (dare I say, INSIDE THE BOX) that makes good politicians. :D
