Flu in our house.

Been getting a lot of cases of the flu at work. Someone's always sick. Of course, with the kids I work with, I'm sure some are faking it. :p

Hope he gets better soon, sweet. :rose:

They should put the rest of your family on Tamiflu as a preventative. Make sure you ask your doctor about that.

Hugs for you and the little tyke.

Damn it.

Young son was acting a bit off this morning.

First, he complained that his throat was sore. (He never complains.)

Then he went back to his room to play computer a bit before we left for school. We found him curled up in bed, fast asleep, with mama kitty watching over him.

(Midnight is his cat - she's adopted him - and she really does keep an eye on him.)

Anyway, young son does not stop activity from morning 'til night. The last time he took a nap he was a toddler. So we knew he was ill.

Hubby took him to the doctors and yes, he tested positive for flu. He's on antibiotics for an ear infection and Tama Flu to help lessen this entire thing. We hope.

The doctor said he shouldn't go back to school until at least Friday - maybe not until next Monday. Man.

He's punky, but not too miserable. Hopefully it won't get worse.

Now I hope the rest of us don't come down with it.

Guess I'll be house cleaning and disinfecting tomorrow.

((((((((((((((SARAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH))))))))))))))):rose:

Would they do that, I wonder?

I'll call my doctor tomorrow.

(Actually, my throat is scratchy headed towards sore. I think I may already be infected with the plague.)

Yes, they would and should! It's common here for entire families to be treated if one tests positive!

I didn't realize you could test for the flu. Shows what I know.

*hugs* for the little one and for Sarah too. :rose:

I have an ill one at the moment too. He puked at his grandmother's before I got home from work. As soon as we got home, he put his pjs on and went straight to bed (voluntarily). He's been asleep ever since. No fever though. I just hope it's not another virus. He just had one last week!

Friday my throat felt a little scratchy.

Saturday, I started coughing every once in a while.
Yesterday, I was miserable-- had one of the most painful throats I can remember, feverish, aching legs and joints. I couldn't do much more than sleep.
Much better today-- but I know that the bronchitis is going to stick around for a while.

It went thru my house last week. LOTS of fun with 3 little ones.

S3, just for the record, rum helps. Not so much with the flu but for dealing with the whining. :D

*sigh* Been there, done that. *hugs*

Just talked to a friend of mine that went to bed on Thursday night and finally got out of bed today. Had every flue symptom known to Man, but in rotation.

The word from the microbiologist wife is that this year's strain is nothing to fool with. The shot you got last fall is the wrong kind for this year's bug, it hits the young harder than the older and it can be fatal. I know that sounds harsh but take no chances with this one.

Flu can be deadly.

The influenza pandemic of 1918-1919 killed more people than the Great War, known today as World War I (WWI), at somewhere between 20 and 40 million people. It has been cited as the most devastating epidemic in recorded world history. More people died of influenza in a single year than in four-years of the Black Death Bubonic Plague from 1347 to 1351. Known as "Spanish Flu" or "La Grippe" the influenza of 1918-1919 was a global disaster.

My Mom's older sister ended up deaf from that one, I'm a believer!

Hope that he feels better soon.

My 7 yr old got diagnosed with pnemonia today. So I know the feeling!

Got ya one better...all four of mine have had it this season, and the oldest is on his second round. Schools are just petri dishes populated by walking bacilli...

Thanks for the tip on the rum--although my preference is for vodka...

Isn't that interesting to see? My son was essentially raised by a stern old momma calico who took no guff from any kitten, two legged or four. But she considered him hers 'till the day she died. I think it made a cat person out of him. Personally, I'm a doggy type.
