Even blowing his nose, Obama gets applause

by John McCormick

DALLAS – It's probably safe to say that you have arrived as a politician when your audience applauds when you blow your nose.

Yes, just a day before a debate in Texas, Sen. Barack Obama has a head cold.

And about a half-hour into a speech here, the Illinois Democrat announced that he had to take a quick break. "Gotta blow my nose here for a second," Obama said.

Out came a Kleenex (or perhaps it was a hankie), and he wiped his nose.

The near-capacity audience at the Reunion Arena, which his campaign said totaled 17,000, broke out in a slightly awkward applause.

Despite the cold, Obama's voice seems as strong as ever. He has a light schedule today and some time to rest up before his debate Thursday evening with Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York.

Well, politicians are applauded for passing gas all the damned time -- albeit from the northern orifice. So, this is unsurprising given that Obama is the messiah.

After eight years of a drunken, cokehead frat boy and his cronies, plus the feebs that kept running against them, it's not surprising that people are overreacting a bit.

If they keep this manic trend up the middle of the country will run away and vote for the oposition.

If the middle of the country runs away, they'll have to come through us edge types. We can tackle 'em. They won't get far.

Won't matter, Hillary has proved that you can't just win the coasts and lose the middle.

Thank you, Barak. You and your snotty nose are doing a great job of electing John McCain.

Fucking mornon!

Where on earth did you ever get the idea America wants Hillary? You people should have dropped her like a hot rock long ago.

Here's the real text for the "light from above" overblown idiocy...

Barack Obama said:
And so your Lebanon organizer for the Obama campaign is Big Dave Ormbrendt.

Where's Dave?

Big Dave, come on up here. Stay right here. Here's Big Dave. He is doing a great job.

They love you, Big Dave. They love you.

He is doing a great job.

Now, in the last day here, Dave only has one thing on his mind. He wakes up with this thought, he goes to sleep with this thought, he eats and lives and breathes and dreams about getting you to the polls tomorrow. That's all he is thinking about.

More specifically, getting you to the polls to vote for me. That's what he's thinking about.

(APPLAUSE)

That's his job, get you to the polls, vote for Obama. My job is to help him do his job. So I am going to try to be so persuasive in the 20 minutes or so that I speak that by the time this is over, a light will shine down from somewhere.

It will light upon you. You will experience an epiphany. And you will say to yourself, I have to vote for Barack. I have to do it.

And if you make that decision, if that moment happens, then it would be great -- even though it's just one day to go -- for you to fill out one of these supporter cards before you leave, because that way we'll know, you know, who, in fact, is going to be voting. Make sure that you are getting to the right precinct. It will be very helpful to Dave in doing his job.

So let me just see a quick show of hands. How many people, be honest, are still undecided about who they're going to vote for tomorrow? Raise your hands.

Oh, see. Got some live ones right there. There's one, there's one over there. A couple others.

All right. We have you now in our sights. We are coming after you, and coming after you hard.

And hopefully if I make a persuasive case, then you will make sure to let Dave know by filling out one of those cards. But you know what? If you're not voting for me, vote for somebody.

What an extraordinary privilege the people of New Hampshire have. You, along with the people of Iowa, will have more to do with selecting the next president than just about anybody else on the planet. And that is remarkable. And it's a responsibility I know you've taken seriously. That's why you're here today.

But we've got to follow through and finish up. Please give Dave a big round of applause.

Notice the words in bold... yeah, real messiah talk there. I'm the only salvation, right?

what utter Rove-ian bullshit this turned out to be... interesting how different something is when you see it in context...

It's not a matter of wanting Hillary. It's a matter of not wanting ANY Republican, McCain or otherwise.

Obama will not win the General Election. He should drop out.

You know quite well that we are searching for messiah talk and nothing else. Why should we read the rest of it, once we've found what we are looking for?

meanwhile, Lisa Shifferin worries that Obama is the spearhead for a tide of communist-Jewish-babies. But she's not a racist.

Skemono has written an excellent and serious commentary on Shifferin's little op ed.

Eleven straight losses make it pretty unlikely Hillary can unify the democrats and win either -- plus she's getting hammered in the south, where the dems must get some wins to take Novemeber ... so with your way of thinking Jenny, the dems are screwed one way or the other at this point

Three straight weeks, independent polls have said you are absolutely 100% wrong and that McCain loses to Obama but beats Clinton.

yes, polls are an imperfect science at best... but be a realist. Why would the team leading in the sixth inning of the ball game walk off the field because they assume they can't win?

Your position needs supporting, dear. You can't just say it and have it be true, or I would have homes in multiple locations throughout the country, all of us here would be financially stable and independent and I would have my own cost free and environmentally friendly Learjet... and those are just the non-sexual things...

I dont think McCain can win regardless of who his opponent is. I wont vote for him.

I agree with Ann Coulter, Hillary is more conservative than McCain.

But Obama has kicked her ass.

The problem, James, is different than what the pundits are seeing. Obama is getting "crossover" votes from Republicans, not voting for him, but against Hillary.

I keep hearing about Obama winning "11 straight" primaries. Hmm. Have everyone forgotten New Mexico that Hillary won on Super Tuesday, and the Obama is still trying to count the delegates as his?

Obama has continuously played the "race card" from the very beginning with Oprah on stage with him, along with black NBA players and black actors. Then when the Kenedy clan joined him, he got whipped in Mass. (AKA Kennedy Country)

Early in the General Election campaign it will become clear that Obama is all words and not substance. The crossovers will got back and vote of McCain, as will many of the "blue collar" voters. (Look what happened in Ohio in 2004)

I just don't see it. The Obama group seems to believe we are as stupid as the Bush camp believes.

Jenny, are you a Hillary supporter who's struggling to come to grips with the fact that your gal has been getting trounced? Not that I don't share your skepticism about Obama (duh), but that's expected from me. ;)

Actually, Roxanne,

I don't really care who wins in November. By then I will be back in Ireland where I belong. I do believe that Obama is the worst possible candidate for this countries highest office.

Do I love Hillary? No. But I would chose her a thousand times of Obama.
