Not going to give reasons why, as I'm almost kinda too lazy to, but here are my ten favorite movie comedies...in some order.

1. The Gold Rush
2. Duck Soup
3. The Graduate
4. Monty Python's Life of Brian
5. Animal Crackers
6. Sherlock, Jr.
7. The Cable Guy
8. The Circus
9. The 40 Year Old Virgin
10. It's A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World

What would be yours? The only exception is, Animal House isn't allowed. (I kid).

Actually, those are some pretty good picks. I would replace a couple with There's Something about Mary, Animal House and possibly Superbad.

Blazing Saddles

Actually any Mel Brooks movie is really funny:)

I'd agree with Blazing Saddles. Love the Marx bros, but any list without Withnail and I is flawed.

This is a comedy.

Have you ever sen Steve Martin's L.A. Story?

The Graduate is a extremely hilarious movie, that could even be the best ever constucted. It uses ever style of joke humanly possible, along with a steller cast that performs it, comedy at it's best.

Have only seen L.A. Story once a few years ago, and don't remember too much about it. Oops.

Never seen Withnail and I, may have to do so eventually.

Um, how can anyone not consider The Graduate a comedy?

I saw this film when it first came out and not since, I took Mrs. Robinson as a tragic figure, a talent wasted and put out to pasture. The graduate is a young man who lets his cock make decisions outside the bedroom. A case of misadventure.

I left the theatre glad I was not involved.

You ever read Shakespeare? Falstaff is hardly stunning example of success.

American Movie

Shaun of the dead

Monty Python's Holy Grail (like it needed to be said:rolleyes:)

Jay and silent bob strike back

Parts of, would agree that Falstaff had his limits.

Thinking back the end scenes in the church in The Graduate were funny.

Part of the problem here is that I can't relate to the social/economic class that is represented in this sort of movie. If it looks like American/glutton class I just don't go to see it.

The whole film is a comment on American middle class morality.

What About Bob?

The 40 Year Old Virgin

Blades of Glory

Fletch

Liar Liar

Spies Like Us

Three Amigos

Anchorman

Corky Ramano

GhostBusters.

Thats just a sampling. I love movies.

No, you love slapstick. Go to the circus.

In other words a flawed, desperate morality.

L.A. Story I can see a satire, and a comedy. I took the Graduate as a tragedy as a flawed relationship was resolved by an unbelievable resolution.

Seems so long ago.

Slapstick is still a form of comedy. Plus, how is "Fletch" slapstick comedy? It's all sarcasm.

I thought "There Will Be Blood" and "No Country For Old Men" were fairly comedic. Then again, I have a darker sense of humor.

Yep, Chevy Chase disguising himself as various people is the height of comedy.
Don't get me wrong, I like that film. The White Album gag cracked me up. But in the top ten of all time? Please.
