Going through the forum (I've been busy the last week) I came across the 'Incest writers be ware' thread. Stolen stories. Found someone's comment about Googling themselves. I thought 'ha, never googled my Lit name before'. I came up with this:

http://funpics.t35.com/

And sure enough, Chapter 20 of The Sentinel. You have to go down the page. I click on the link and where does it take me? Back to literotica.com straight to Chapter 20 of The Sentinel.

Not sure how I feel about this. It just seems like a little extra advertising. Anyway, it looks like an entire block of all the New Stories from the day that that chapter came out. It even says - New in the last 7 days - above it. I would guess that if you click around you might find ALL the - New in the last seven days - pages of literotica over there.

Several names and several stories. Those I clicked (just mine and another) came back here.

I'll let Lit know.

This doesn't constitute story stealing. It's not what is recognized as good form in the Internet world (a seldom-respected informal understanding exists to request privilege of listing links like this), but there's nothing illegal about linking directly to material on another URL. The Web site cited doesn't post text from the story or claim that anyone else wrote it other than the registered author at Lit.--or pretend that it isn't content living directly on Lit. Most authors would welcome this sort of free advertising.

Absolutely right!

Hmmm. Then there's nothing to let Lit. know, is there? There's nothing they could do about it (and I don't think they really do anything about reposted stories at all--they certainly don't do anything about copyrighted material reposted on this forum).

They will if you report it.

I don't think so. And I've invited anyone who reported it and got results to note that on previous threads and no one has. It's just one of those myths, I think. But if it gives you comfort, by all means cling to it.

Again, they don't enforce a ban on posting copyrighted material on their own site (despite this being listed in the forum rules), so why would they actually go after other sites reposting material from here? Time for testimonials?

(But, of course, this doesn't apply to the example of this thread, which doesn't constitute reposting of story texts.)

Just once see if you can get this through your head. Most of the articles you are talking about posted in these threads are news articles. They are quoted for the most part with the byline and source attached. What is the difference in doing that and reffernces ina ny college paper that used sources.

And for your information I can name at least two sited tha the owners of lit have shut down for stealing stories. There are probably twenty five people in the AH that know about it. So take you stupid ax grinding somewhere it flies because it has gotten very old very quick around here.

And while I'm at it. Everyone but you gets their PM's answered by Laural. Do you wonder why? So do we but then again with your attitude we can understand it.

Shit. I told myself I wasn't going to do this but... Some people need to get over themselves.

What does being "news articles" have to do with the price of eggs in lower Slobovia? They are copyrighted articles. When you post them here you are violating copyright. I don't think I'm the one who needs to get a clue on copyright here.

If you can name two sites this site closed down by active means and know of specific examples, by all means provide the evidence. Testimonials from those twenty-five folks who saw their material pulled off other sites by active means from this site would be evidence, yes. Just claiming it happened isn't evidence, though. Proof of some sort of the activity would be good to hear--better then just yakking about what you heard from Aunt Matilda's third cousin.

Here's one.

Of course, as I click on the links I can no longer find the sites.

I guess they were shut down.

Hmmm. Five years ago. And no evidence the Web site did anything or was the cause of anything. Certainly no statement on this thread by anyone from the Web site administration--no claim of having taken any action.

We've had threads within the last couple of months reporting texts lifted from here and appearing on other sites. I saw no indication that anything resulted from any claimed Lit. action on that.

By all means live the myth if you like, if it gives you comfort.

BWAH!

I was here. Saw it happen. So did others.

And the Umma bitch? The folks who were here at the time remember the situation and saw that site completely shut down. Additionaly, a site in the Netherlands took one of my stories and it was removed after a PM to Laurel.

And Laurel, by the way, ALWAYS answers my PMs. ;)

Have a nice day.

:D

(Oh - this is so amazing to me, by the way. We actually share the same political views. Fucking amazing. Hubby and I just went to the Democratic Caucus last night - go Obama! How can we differ on so many other things? You'd think we'd be closer in some aspects.)

Again, that's five years ago (and I see nothing from the site administrators that claims they actually did anything). Doesn't mean much today. What happened in the case of a month or so ago? I'd track down the thread, but I'm pretty sure that real facts doing mean much in this discussion.

I'm still on the "either will do" fence on Clinton/Obama, although I find myself pulling for Clinton when it looks like she's slipping. Most of Obama's "I didn't do it" statements are because he was a nobody with nothing to lose/no responsiblity to face when stands had to be taken. Clinton was the senator from New York/the Twin Towers; it would have been political suicide to pull a Ted Kennedy at that point. Still, I think she's dumb just not to continually say "The little shit lied to us" and not to stand on "Do you want a dogmatic stake in the ground or someone who adjusts to changing information/realities?"

Given the little time to get something in motion after the Bush people are tossed out of town, I think the Clintons are more likely to be able to deliver than the recently elected junior senator from Illinois. Which is about the only thing that keeps me from leaning toward Camelot redux.
