The LA Lakers 105, New Jersey 90.

Pau Gasol, the Lakers new center/power forward had one (1) practice with the Lakers before his first game with the Lakers. Kobe Bryant had six (6) points on 3 of 13 shooting. The Lakers won by 15 points, going away. When Andrew Bynum returns, the Lakers suddenly look like possible championship material.

Comment?

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) -- Pau Gasol was a winner in his Lakers debut, without even much help from Kobe Bryant.

Gasol had 24 points and 12 rebounds, and the Lakers beat the New Jersey Nets 105-90 on Tuesday night despite a season-low six points from Bryant, his first single-digit effort in more than a year.

Derek Fisher matched a season high with 28 points to lead the Lakers, who improved to 3-1 on their nine-game road trip. Bryant shot 3-of-13 from the floor but had eight assists in his lowest-scoring effort since an eight-point game against Denver on Jan. 5, 2007.

He seemed to work well with Gasol, who was 10-of-15 and showed he may help the Lakers get by just fine until Andrew Bynum returns from his knee injury.

I'm still counting on my Spurs. ;)

True, they've had some bad losses recently. But the same thing happened last year. This is the 'home stretch' road trip that always makes or breaks them. Despite the injuries and other problems, I'm still in line behind Tim, Manu, Tony and all the rest.

Go, Spurs, Go!

:D

Sidenote: Tony Parker came into the restaurant today (alas, without his wife). He's a nice guy. Good tipper. ;)

Pulls out her Mavs blue earmuffs and places them on her head, so she cannot hear the tiny little whispered <spurs> cheer.

GO MAVS!

:p

GO SPURS GO!

I like the Mavericks. I really do, especially because of AJ. He was a damn good player for the Spurs and has proven to be a crafty and excellent coach.

But I have confidence in my hometown boys. ;)

Would like to cover her ears and sing "la la la la", but has to give the Spurs their props. Still rooting for my Mavs though.

and btw...

GO MAVS!

Both the Spurs and Mavs will have quite a bit of say about who wins the west. However, now the Lakers will also have some say. It should be interesting.

Let me see. Tickets at the Rose Garden for a Trailblazer game high up in the bleachers - $140

A beer at the Rose Garden - $4.50

A Hot Dog (they are nasty, by the way) - $6.00

Parking at the Lloyd Center - $Free  (But a big possibility of having your car ripped off or stolen)

Shuttle Bus to the Rose Garden - $10.00

Somehow, for 2 hours of entertainment, I'm not all that interested.

Yes, when you read that Stretch Superstuff gets paid $25 million per year, the money has to come from somewhere.
