Show me your collar (or describe it as best as you can).

What does a collar mean to you?

Alternately, what does it mean to you to put a collar on someone?

What is your style of collars that you prefer?

I am not owned, and therefore, have no collar...

but I once discussed collars with someone special, and he showed me this, for me: (see attached)

A collar is... a sign of ownership. It is a sign of authority over the person wearing it. It is a symbol of love, IMO.

I have never collared anyone- I can't answer that part.

I love the one shown in the picture.

Mine is from the same website as the photo LittleJade posted, only it is thinner and has a pattern of waves and cherry blossoms. It screws on in the back. I never remove it except on the 3rd of each month to polish and clean it.

It means I am owned, simple as that.

My collar is in my av :) It is my everyday collar.

I wear it as a symbol of the type of relationship we have (D/s) not as a sign of being owned.

I also wear His wedding ring.

I also have a heart shaped filigree padlock on a silver chain for dressier occasions. For play I have a soft leather collar with an O ring.

Mine's pretty basic.

Not for me . The significance of being genuinely mentally & emotionally owned & committed , wouldn't be enhanced by physical representation . The allure of an actual collar long out grown in my eyes. Always a challenging topic for me as I am quite literally ambivalent.

Collars worn in intimate play , perchance a different ball game, not currently an issue : smiles :

My general opinion, I have always appreciated the collars of others that have special providence, examples being a dominant's crafted and recycled retired belt ( Kayte whom is a Lit member used to have an AV of a collar her dom made just like that ), a piece that was thoughtfully considered or designed irrespective of it's commercial value. The polar opposite being Artisan crafted versions such as this , I always thought that was beautiful piece and certainly something that could be worn 24/7, the locking release mechanism being in the ring worn by the dominant really holds most of the allure for me though. Considering my hand fetish, the loaded symbolism, it's not a stretch to know why I find that specific representation so alluring. The Jeweller, Wal Heeckeren is so good that considering the potential to twisting my arm very hard I might even consider the velcro version : chuckles : See how it has the little scribing attachment ? Unique and clever, quite appealing.

Ohhh this years April fools day thread "Rebecca got a velcro collar woot ". Oh boy that would get some views

Make no mistake, I think it's a charming D/s tradition, and sometimes when I hear submissives speak of what their collar represents to them in regards to their commitment to their dominant I can truly sit back and smile for them. I am disgusting romantic that way, well that and sincerity of expression make a far easier read .

I have actually been looking for a craftsperson who can make a collar to my specification, but so far am fruitless in my search. Can anyone recommend someone who would follow directions specifically, and who has mastered the craft?

Thank you.

These are great to have, but I’m looking more for custom function instead of look. I think in the end I will have to commission a shoemaker or someone who can really work leather. It will cost a pretty penny, but result in a piece that will last a lifetime. This collar is in essence suppose to grow with her through the experiences, so that it not only reminds her of her position, but also of all the memories and milestones met. But theirs no way I’m ordering one at this time, not until I have found the sub and have learned her likes, only then can the designing process really be completed.

The locking ring brings up another point.

I have wondered what a dom might have as a representation of the bond. Maybe the key on a necklace, a tattoo with her name and status, something that says the sub is not just owned but owned by that specific dom.

To romantics like us :rose:
Cheers

*waves* Hi Tris! :rose:

I don't have a collar yet...apart from a play one, which I hasten to add I love :)

But I cannot wait to wear a permanent one. Its horses for courses I guess and although I realise in the scheme of things its just a symbol...I absolutely love what it symbolises. I like the idea of having a constant physical reminder and am not really one for tats.

Yup I cannot wait, whether its a necklace bracelet, ring.... whatever. If its made of silver, beads, leather or rope lol I honestly don't care. I will wear it so proudly.

That's the spirit!

I'd done a trainig one for birdie and I'm planning make another couple of, one more light and another more vanilla, something for wear in normal life. I will try to finish for Valentines day!

Hope will be a nice surprise! *lol*

aww you are such a sweetie Tris *hugs* That is a lovely idea

Hope Birdie and the family are good :rose:

I also have a burgundy leather one with a brass plate that says "garnet, property of Dawnie"...that was the collar she collared me with. I still am allowed to wear that one to bed sometimes, just to feel closer to her.

When I am with her, I wear a rather heavy eternity collar with a padlock.

The collar(s) are not necessary for my ownedship status, but it's much like the wedding ring concept to me. It's something physical I can feel and look at and treasure, especially when we are apart. For someone as sentimental as I am, it fits me well.

I'm much more a fan of eternity and jewelry type collars rather than leather with rings, unless they are very simple.

It's interesting the different views that everyone has on the meaning of their collar(s). Does your wedding ring have the same symbolism as your collar to you?

Do you wear that daily?

Would you wear a collar if you were asked to?

Thank you.

How would you design the collar to represent the milestones and memories? What kinds of accessories would you add to achieve that?

Why can't you wear a permanent one? If you had to choose or had the opportunity to choose a collar for yourself what would you want it to look like?

See this is me. I'm very sentimental as well ( I even keep the envelopes Jounar sends my chistmas gifts to me in ).A collar is a big deal to me, and I won't accept one unless that person knows what it means to me, and feels the same.

Jounar hasn't "officially" collared me yet. He believes that's something best left to inperson, and I agree. I do how ever have a collar that is "his". The first collar I ever bought, and it was bought under his sugestion. Simple black leather dog collar I got at the pet store that has a purple heartshaped tag on it with "If found please return to Ireland" on it. I have another tag "slut propety of Jounar" which was the first one, but we like the new tag better.

I have another collar that means a lot to me that was hand crafted by some one special. It's very simple. He made it from bicycle spokes and is very much like the eturnity collars I have always wanted. It has a small pad lock (we replaced the one in the picture with a silver one that has a rhinestone "g" on it, for "giggles" his pet name for me).

I do have other collars. A red sparkly one we call my "christmas collar" that was given to me this christmas. And a couple others that are mostly to fit my style and mood. They're all from the pet store. *shurg* When I like one, I buy it.

Why can't you wear a permanent one? If you had to choose or had the opportunity to choose a collar for yourself what would you want it to look like?

I hope I will. Its something we have talked about a lot. I guess we just haven't got around to it yet....and I am trying to wait patiently til he decides the right time

I kinda know what the ideal one would look like. If it were a necklace, it would be very simple in design, probably a plain silver choker.
Though I've seen other ideas I like....a silver chain with a small o ring on it, a chain with autralian stone on it (he is an aussie *grin*) and a delicate silver bracelet with a small lock on it.
