I am quickly growing tired of this as well. I was hoping I could last until I was no longer a newbie. But I think I am finally being worn down. I simply do not have the energy or patience to continue these 'discussions.

It's decent and sensible of you to try to introduce yourself and get to know people in a pleasant way in your first few days here. Don't worry about LJ; there are others who will respond to you in kind and appropriately. None of them will see anything wrong with your posts to this thread. Good luck finding some pleasant conversation. You might try peeping in at the Authors' Hangout as well. It moves much more slowly than the GB, but there are all sorts of threads (shockingly few on writing, really) and, because there are fewer posters, sometimes a bit more openness and patience toward a pleasant new face who introduces herself nicely.
