Well, first I would need a list of all the emotions, and a very large pile of paper.Just a question to more knowledgeable persons, is it possible to write a story with every known human emotion, and if so how would you go about it, ...
I don't either, but since there are a finite number of words in the language, there must be a finite number of those words which are labels for emotions. Unfortunately, I think emotions are like colours, and though we have a finite number of names for colours, nevertheless there are an infinite number of distinguishable colours, even in the rainbow, let alone the mess my great grandson makes with watercolours.... as for me I don't know all the emotions but I'm sure there are people out there that do.
What about embarrassment and humiliation?Actually there are not that many emotions, there is love, fear, hate, sadness and happiness. Most of the other stuff that are refered to as emotions are sensations and feelings, not the same thing.
For example, being hungry is not an emotion, it is a sensation of your gut saying dammit put something in here. Lust is not an emotion either, it is a desire to get to know someone biblically, because it is often used in conjunction with love it is generally thought of as an emotion though desires are not emotions, they are mindsets brought on by personality, among other things.
Love actually in many ways is not a seperate emotion, people in love tend to be happy near a specific person, sad when they are apart and mad if anyone does anything to said specific person, not to mention fearful of the person leaving and not coming back. It is concidered a seperate emotion because it is caused by one specific person and the happiness part is generally a little stronger.
GW if you look closely most longer stories have a few of those, even the short ones tend to have one or more. Though I gotta ask, why do you want a story with all of the emotions in it?
You also have to consider there are different shades of emotions such as sad VS melancholy (feeling included in depression), or what we call "blue" (included in rehashing old feelings called "wallowing").Well okay perhaps i wasn't too clear on what I wanted but thanks Emap, cloudy, snooper the idea was to write a story with emotions as characters sort like a story with the seven deadly sins as characters but I get the point that if I tried to include all the emotions in one story it would very long!.
If for instance i was going to write a story that was sad with several emotions would that work?
I have read some really sad stories on this site and by sad I mean I really feel for a person in that story, which of course is a feeling all by it's self.
Sorry if this is starting to sound a bit zen!

I sometimes wonder what happened to the 7 dwarves (Happy, Grumpy, Sleepy, Sneazy, Bashful, Doc, and Dopey) after Snow White and Prince Charming got together.Emotions as characters, hmm. There are (or used to be when I was a child) several childrens' shows that have one character who personifies sadness or one who personifies anger. Also characters who personify worry, paranoia, or obsessive/compulsive neuroticness. Oh and the typical coldly logical ice princess or prince. And then there's the occasional blithe person who can walk through disasters without getting a scratch on them or noticing that there was a problem. I think this type of cast of characters works well for comedy, although it's common to make the central character or 3 be more well-rounded so readers can take them more seriously and they can go through personal growth, which single-emotion characters are limited in.
Dopey likes to eat soap (thought the word was soup).Well as I recall the one sided characters found in children's books always learned something and at the end said they would change.
You mean like the Mister Men books but with emotions rather than attributes?... the idea was to write a story with emotions as characters ...

Did you mean me, 'cause I never finish anything I write (usually quickly destroyed) and I don't think I'm that good at it.You seem to be a very intelligent person and I think if you write and make characters for the love ,hate, fear, happiness, and sadness emotions,do it with passion. It will be great.
Frustration. Not popular in Lit stories.... Hey wait! was that an emotion can't for the life of me think which one. ...
