I'm know. I'm just making an example of it. You don't have to buy expensive rope, just make sure that you buy the right stuff when you go inexpensive, and you're fine, as you so cheerfully express.
ETA: Another example was a friend that's unhappy because the rope bought was nylon/poly blend with a high poly percentage, and was braid over core. It was rope in a bag, and marked Nylon diamond braid. This is why I say again and again to buy it off the spool. While you're still going to get nylon/poly blend these days, the nylon count is usually higher on the spool, and if it says solid braid, you know you are getting solid braid, not braid over mystery core.
Spool is your friend. Bag is not. (Though all spool rope is not necessarily great. It just seems far more common to find crap rope in the bags and better rope on the spools.)
