Ropework photos

Lilac is my favorite flower.
I love springtime.
(grrr... it's snowing here .. ).

Edit: Mmm, photos were added while I was very slowly typing my post while watching tv. LOL <drools> Nice photos. <waits for more> :D

Another lesson in patience courtesy of the ropework Photos thread :D

I'm all for variation. :) Charcoal, forest green, lilac ... :D

There is joy in colour, eh?

----

this totally needs to be in your sig line.

or on a t shirt

bj

A shirt is a bit much, but, yeah, that line does need to be sigged. I put it in my title, but the whole thing wouldn't fit, boo.

If I can hijack just long enough to respond, I SO agree with you. The idiot landowner cut down ALL the lilacs that had been growing for YEARS behind the entire back of the building. I couldn't even get him to wait to cut them down until after they bloomed last year. No more soft lilac-scented breezes wafting gently into my bedroom waking me in the mornings. <cries> The short time the lilacs bloom is my favorite time of the year.

Very much so. Color can set the mood for not only a romantic moment. The right shirt in the morning can give a boost of confidence to your day. Especially if it's one you look hot in. Soft colors can calm a stressed mind. I'm sure you get the idea. Don't get me started on scents. ;) (I make my own perfume.)

Ohhhh .... new pics!!!! thank you Homburg-sama m(_ _)m

Pink rope! nice! and "v" looks really good in it :)

There is something to be said for the funkiness of colored rope and I am actually looking forward seeing the acid-green one.

That said ... when it comes to colors ... I am a boring person: black, white, natural, red/crimson/dark red, and when I feel colorful: yellow. Guess I am more of a shape/form person than a color one.

Anyway: good job also working on the unfinished rope! I honestly lack the patience ... a trait quite common it seems ... ;)

I only have one length. I bought it for colour contrast work. I should've bought more, but oh well.

I'm the same way. very limited colour pallette in my wardrobe.

There is a reason why Monk and the rest charge what they do for rope. Conditioning it is a pain. A huge pain. While it is cool to have my own rope, conditioned by my own hands, it is undeniable that Monks, Rainbow Rope, etc produce better conditioned hemp than I ever will.

The bottom line is deciding what your time is worth. It took me a good chunk of the day to condition that 140' of rope. Probably 2 hours or so to measure, cut, and finish the ends (moving at a leisurely pace while reading and playing with the kids). Washing and drying twice took like four hours combined (though obviously I was doing other stuff while it was in the washer and dryer). Burning took 45 minutes or so. Oiling it twice probably another 45 minutes. So 3.5 hours of active work, and another 4 hours with the washer and dryer occupied. But I saved literally $100+ and S&H over ordering it online.

Oh, and if you ever do decide to do it - raw hemp leeches oil out of your hands like crazy. The skin on my hands hurt and was raw after all the messing around that I did yesterday.

i just bought a whole bunch of rope and was wondering if you had any self-ties you could suggest. my main problem is i have to always have at least one hand free becuase i am required to take a picture once i finish. also, having my hands makes things easier since how else am i supposed to tie the ropes? most of the stuff i find online is all upperbody, which is difficult when you are tying yourself. any ideas?

Well, the rope corset is a possible self-tie, though you'll have a little trouble keeping the back straight. The karada works, as we've seen. Crotchropes are perfectly functional. The decorative work on the legs (shown in the first post of "v"). Double-column ties on the ankles. Crab ties on the legs (ie tying the shin to the thigh with the knee sharply bent, did these on SW in her first appearance).

Lots of possible choices, and I've depicted a number of them here. Let me know if you need specific guidance or links on a given tie, and I'll see what I can do.

:D :D :D

Glad to hear it.

And this, friends, is what happens when you buy tolerable rope, as opposed to nasty stuff like sisal. Ick.
